Music
I enjoy easy listening music above all but can relate to most all genre of music. Oldies, R & B, Country, R & R, Gospel, Latin, Big Bands, well I guess you get the picture. As a former DJ, I did the Salsa, Soul and Disco on the air, but the party or club scene were all different and I catered to the clients wishes.
I LIKE MUSIC WITH A MESSAGE ALSO.....
My Latin music was influenced by Roberto Roena, Willie Colon, Jimmy Sabater, Lebron Brothers, just listen to the Joe Bataan sounds at this site.
Timmy Thomas, Otis Redding, Mama's & the Papa's, Carpenters, Elvis, Ray Charles, Mills Brothers, Freddy Fender, Engelbert, the Temptations Frakie Valli, Johnny Nash, Julius LaRosa, Carlos Santana and few more.....
I came across a website that has struck my fancy, because their commitment is the same as mine were in the 80's the big companies would hold back commercials if you didn't play what they wanted. Therefore many groups and artists weren't heard over the commercial airwaves. I played music from any label any time I felt, I played the music after I reviewed and I played music that was in the sense older that the other Salsa Stations of the time. Music sounds that were influence by Big Bands, Jazz and Blues. Like the sounds of Johnny Pacheco, Sonora Pocena, El Gran Combo, Bobby Rodriguez y La Compania.
I just want to mention a few of my helpers, workers, partners, characters, volunteers and friends. Sensuous Johnny, Henry Wiscowich, Dave The Rave, Gil D' Thrill, Mack the Bat, Abdul of Brooklyn, Patty of Queens, George Ortiz (News), Mark Ferguson (News), Lobo The Lover, Theresa with the Olds, Dizzy Dee, DJ Pete, Kick, DJ Angel, J.V.O on the Radio, Henry Marquez, Sherref M, there are so many out there and special hello to Carlos Santana who "No relationship" kept me in the swing, and the person who told me I could make it on the radio, Eddie Brugman(R.I.P.), if I left you out forgive me because there was so many of you, who sponsored, supported the show by calling 10 times an hour :). Let me know I will add you here. That's it for tonight folks, Next week, Same Fat Time, Same Fat Station!!! God Bless"!!!!
THEN AFTER THAT CAME:
MR. MAGIC'S RAP ATTACK WHICH SHOOK THE INNER CITY AND MANY PARTS UNKNOWN WITH HIS UNIQUE INTRODUCTIONS OF NEW ACTS AND TALENTS FROM THE METRO AREA, APPEARING AT THE ECLIPSE MATTRESS FACTORY (ATLANTIC & MONTAUK IN EAST NEW YORK) AFTER IT WAS CONVERTED INTO A ROLLER DISCO.
I mostly use to watch Crime Drama, Sports, Science, How-to-do, anthing with John Wayne, I also gave up watching wrestling, which I enjoyed watching Bobo Brazil, Verne Gagne, The Fabulous Moolah, Chief Jay Strong Bull, Nikita Koloff, Ernie Ladd, American Dream Dusty Rhodes, the Undertaker, Bob Backlund, Andre the Giant,
Pedro Morales

About me: There isn't much to say but that, LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO WORRY ABOUT DIFFERENCES, WE SHOULD CONCENTRATE ON IMPROVING OUR SIMILARITIES. AND PRAY TO BE A BETTER PERSON IN THE FUTURE.
LOOKING TO ADD PICTURES STORIES OF THE PEOPLE I WENT TO SCHOOL WITH, WORKED WITH, OR LIVED WITH. Looking for photos of areas and places I have been, I lost so many pictures during a flood in my basement so all of my old picture and memorabilia was lost. Picture of World's Fair, FK Lane, Berriman JHS, PS 58X, Crossbay Playland, East Tremont, Crotona Park, Bathgate Avenue Push carts, Palisades Amusement Park, pictures of sporting events, Liberty Park, Blake Avenue, Essex Street and Pitkin Avenue, so if you have something you can share with me please let me know I will scan it and return it or send it to me here on MYSPACE, Many of you know I am a education geared person almost at the freak level, I like to tweak and exercise my brain with new knowledge and thoughts. I believe that was instilled in me by my grandparents and then my parents. They would tell me you can lose your house, get fired, or robbed, but no one can take knowledge away from you. I thank all my teachers in PS 58 Bronx for this also. Second is I love to make people smile, even though I may be broken hearted, it makes me feel better to see someone else with a smile.
For my friends and neighbors in East New York you should check out THE BERRIMAN SCHOOL.
Well I hope some of your the World's Fair in NYC of 1965, no not the 1939 one.....from the 60's in Queens, NY At the World's fair I saw the future electronic cash register and fell in love with Artificial Intelligence. Although I bought my 1st computer in 1977 a (TRS-80-1), I really fell in love with the family of Commodore computers. I owned a Commodore 64, C-128, Amiga 1000 and Amiga 2000d,
Subways, trains, trolleys any thing on a track fascinates me I rode the entire MTA or NYCTA system with the exception of the Metro-North. But I lived near it and I went to Manhattan and ate from from a Hot Dogs place called Coney Island Joe's I believe on the Manhattan side of the Metro. My parents went there to "La Marqueta" the market, under the Metro on Park Avenue. I believe it is the same line that also passed near my house when I lived in the Bronx. Check this out!A train that was designated the Museum Train leaves Rockaway Park in Queens towards NYC. Running on the 'A' or the Old L.I.R.R. Rockaway Beach tracks.
This going to Montauk Point. Long Island. The most eastern terminal in the South end of Long Island, NY. It's breath taking.
This next short is the elevated 'A' train going west towards Manhattan from the last (75th Street/Boyd Avenue) stop above ground from Lefferts Avenue or the Rockaways. You will see parts of Brooklyn on the left as it approaches the Grant Street station.
Check out YouTube they have a large collection of interesting runs of Subways and Elevated trains videos.
Parent Involvement in the Educational Sysytem, I have been married three times, have two children, two grandchildren, I am currently doing my Family geneology in My Heritage.com and have done a bit dabbling in Age of Empire, (Short of AOE 3 Asian Dynasty)
and I really love people even though I am a shy person. Anyway Thanks for reading this.. Come back, because I'll be updating this.
Check out some of my Pictures:
AS A MUSIC PERSON:
I began playing music with my brother's old 45 records in 1964, I just did the intro and played the music, that's all you can do with one turntable I played aand practiced everywhere. I met my friend Jeffrey (JVO on the radio) and his brother Sherref Mustafe and we would play music together and Jeffrey decided we should play like the top 40's stations of the days. I also recall re-doing the series THE FUGITIVE on 8mm film, also later on I helped a my friend Ralph Colon's sister Dalila Maldonado do a short film on 8mm for her class in HS. That was a vampire type film, I used my friend's funeral home to do it in. She got a good mark. I worked in the mornings before going to school helping Sal open his fruit stand next to Kaye's Discount on the corner of Essex Street and Pitkin Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn. I got friendly with a few businessmen in the neighborhood and they would bring me their shoes over the weekend I would clean and shine them, I always found a way to make a few dollars to buy my records and equipment. I did the first Grafitti (signs) using homemade stencils. By this time my crush on Brunilda of the Bronx faded and I was looking at my friend Eddie's sister. Her father owed the Candy Store on Sutter Ave & Berriman Street. I was 14 then, so being that I was shy and she was so elegant, I was so ashame to even speak with her. Anyway one day Jeffrey come to me and tells me to let's record a radio show. I thought he was crazy. Well it was a LP with a prerecorded radio show and it had a script with it. Also when it was the DJ (announcer's turn) the cue was a the sound of a bell.I think it was U Be the D J. We did and that is how my life began to mold itself towards music. DJ JACK was born. Then one day some of us kids decide to take off from school in the afternoon and hang out. (( TO ALL YOU STUDENTS DON'T DO THIS, IT WILL TAKE AWAY FROM THE LEARNING PROCESS, unless you are like me a straight 65 student)) I went got my little turntable and a handfull of 45's and that was the second inspiration.
I began listening intensely to the MC's DJ's and announcers on the radio I began to dream. I know I can do this, I know I can..Is this an autobiography, I gotta go will keep adding........Eddie Brugmann was the one who finally gave me that positive "click" and what can I say?
Who I'd like to meet: In this world I would like to meet Don Imus, Sidney Poitier, President Bush, Doctor "J" Julius Erving, Ray Knight, Mookie Wilson, Mark William Calaway, and would like to see or hear from Gary Maccio, Brunilda Silva, Milagros Cedeno Galindez, Marilyn & Lourdes Rodriguez, Helene Esposito, The Mercado families of Pitkin Avenue, The Camachos of Pitkin Avenue, the Figueroas of Linwood Street, Rachel Castro of Avenue D, in NYC, Gilbert Graulau, the Torres family from Essex Street, the people that worked and lived near Kaye's Department store. The Velasquez's (found some), Wally Ortiz, Angel Robles, Pete Santiago, Frank Gines, Pedro Cardona, Joey Madonado, Ray Caban from the Mostoff Hardware on Pitkin Avenue, there are so many... I would also like to talk to Pete Rose, Jose Canseco, Jose Reyes, and maybe the owners of the Mets Mr. Wilpon are you out there?; hey I'm not forgeting my family in Norway and my family from Calabria, Italy, last but not least all the Donato's left in Quebradaseca, Ceiba, Fajardo, Santurce, the Bronx, Maryland, Delaware, North Carolina, Florida, PA, Connecticut. The family on my mother's side from Norway, the Andersens and Rasmussens. There are many others who I will not be able to meet in my lifespan. Such men as Abraham Lincoln, Roberto Clemente, Babe Ruth, Hector LaVoe, Harry Truman, John Glenn, Thomas A. Edison, Job from the Bible, John Howard Griffin (Black like Me), George Orwell (1984), a few others.
I have had the pleasure, honor and of meeting a few people in my Life also: Ralph Frease-(Photogragher, Art Director, Artist and friend)of the Bronx, Jackie Robinson, NYC Mayor John V. Lindsay, Councilman of Queens,NY-Al Stabile, Bobby Rodriguez, NY Senator-Charles Schumer,
Matt Bromme-Former Principal of JHS 210 in Queens, Superintendent of District 27 Queens.
Former NYC Chancellor-Rudy Crew,
City NY Councilman- James Sanders Jr.,
Mrs. Betty Wilson (tremendous community and parent leader in Queens,NY), US Congressman Joseph P. Addabbo, his son Joseph Jr. Rev. Nicky Cruz (Run, Nicky, Run) now I believe in California, Dave Wilkerson when he was in the Bronx (1960's), NYS Senator Rev. Ruben Diaz, Sr. of the Bronx, NYC Councilman, Former Queens Boro President Clare Shulman, many in the NYC Board of Education, Assemblyman Edward Griffith-Brooklyn, Herman Badillo of the Bronx,NY, Major R. Owens,Brooklyn,NY, Assemblyman Edolphus Towns of Brooklyn, NY, Shirley Chisholm of NYC, these are the ones that come to my mind now I know I met more because I MC'd a few political parties and involved myself in the Parent Associations of my children's schools.
