Bass Guitarist, Asamu Johnson, formed the Fatt Lapp Blues Band in 1996. They are dedicated to performing their own, original blues. They have created a new and innovative blend of blues that throbs in echo to today’s culture.
Fatt Lapp has created a meld between Chicago Style Blues, Asamu's heart and Delta Blues. They have a unique sound that appeals to listeners and dancers of any age. Performances are highlighted by uncommonly clean guitar licks in any tempo, from moody to dynamic.

The debut of their first CD, "Boogie This Blues" , was in 1998. It's first edition sold out in two months, even though it was only available locally. It will be re-released as MP3's shortly. Check back!

They have also played at the Grand Rapids Festival, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Afro American Festival, Kentwood Festival, Wyoming Cultural Festival, Cow Pie Blues Festival in Grand Rapids, New Holland Brewery in Holland, Kalamazoo Blues Festival, Francisco’s in Kalamazoo, Jambalaya’s in Lansing, Victories Casino in Petoskey, Walt’s in Portland, Rouge River Blues Festival in Rockford, Wally’s in Saugatuck, Wayland Hotel Bar & Grill in Wayland and many more.
Fatt Lapp has played most of the festivals held throughout the state of Michigan, and has gotten rave reviews from all of the local Blues Society publications.
