Satellite City & High Hopes's Comedian Bio
|
| Bio | Satellite City and High Hopes are two comedy sitcoms from the award winning writer Boyd Clack. Aired on BBC Wales it has become a firm favourite in the hearts of all Welsh comedy lovers. First aired in 1996 Satellite City tells the tale of the lives of an “ordinary " working class family in the valleys of South Wales. Gwynne Price is the husband who has been stuck in his job too long and has become bitter and cynical about the modern world. Moira is the long suffering wife of Gwynne, addicted to Prozac and with aspirations of a life better than reality. Idris, Gwynne’s father, a widower of Hangharrod Price who he himself killed by knocking her down with the works bus outside the co-op! Randy, an American tourist with wild philosophies on life and karma who shares the bed with Idris vacated by the recent suicide of former tenant English Stan!
Count alongside Mandy, Randys devoted girlfriend, her wacky friend Bridgett and recently dumped local Barman of the Cosmo club Dai and you have the elements of life in a former mining town in Wales!
High Hopes centres on a different kind of family. Fagin and his mam take in two young tearaways Charlie & Hoffman who join Fagin in his post prison money-making odds n sods business! Fagin was sent to prison for accidentally killing a man and is now acrophobic. Mam and ex stripper and bingo fanatic, and Charlie & Hoffman with their tips and tricks of the trade spend the time scheming to get rich. PC Claude Cox is the dimwit, cake loving policeman who befriends the family and often pops round for a scone! Sgt Ball is the superior officer who although often more strict also sticks up for the boys which makes them more or less un-arrestable!

We are a site dedicated to the appreciation of two of the finest comedy series ever! Satellite City and High Hopes are welsh based comedies that are regularly shown on BBC digital channel BBC 2W. This channel can be received anywhere in Wales and also can be found on the BBC variation channels in the 900+ channels on SKY DIGITAL.
