"Faulkner just fucking do it and do it better than anyone you might care to think of or mention. They play their version of epic so tightly it's like bark on a tree, the sole on a shoe."

..
"Nowhere you would have heard of": it's an apparently innocuous answer to the simple question of where Faulkner are from. A lack of place, however, is a defining theme in the band's work and one about which they are keenly aware.
"I think if where you're from has no particular identity, then that nothingness defines you - it's a part of you", says Chambers. "We're all from places which are barely on the map, and you either accept it or you harbour a desire to fill that space".
This sense of lack is one which unites the four members of Faulkner, who formed in 2005 and have since relocated to London - "the natural destination, for now", notes Weeks - to record and perform new material.
The city has provided impetus for the band to challenge what frontman Rollins calls the "vacuum of ambition" of a nowhere town. Their work is littered with evidence that "music which inspires us comes from bands and musicians who are searching for something rather than the ones relying on their lifestyle or location to succeed".

Mama Shamone http://www. myspace. com/mamashamone “Put Mama Shamone on at any venue and they are likely to take the roof off, this was one of the best live shows I’ve seen in years - certainly one of the best in London. In my opinion these guys are destined for greatness, it felt like I was witnessing history being shaped-something was just so right about what they were doing up there.” Vibe Bar
We Yes You No www. myspace. com/weyesyouno “We Yes You No sing about the end of the world, the end of everything. But in an apocalypse that would sound like this I would buy god’s last EP” – Big City Redneck
