General

My passion now is to turn boring white walls into walls full of color and realistic architecture like faux exposed brick wall paintings. I call it the “oooohhh effect!

When someone walks into a room that was void of interest in the morning and now there is a new window with a view of Italy or maybe the room now resembles a faux exposed brick wall faux painting and courtyard filled with potted plants.... “oooohhh is usually the first word I hear.

Faux Painting and Mural Painting are such cool ways to liven up a space. Don't think you know how to use faux painting techniques? Ha...I say. You can do it, just grab some paint brushes and paint and cover up those white walls.

Hi, my name is Debra Conrad and everyone calls me "THAT Painter Lady".

Sponges, brushes, rags, buckets of paint and step-ladders are my wardrobe accessories. There are times when I have some rather strange colored highlights in my hair, and my hair stylist isn’t at fault. I’d rather wear comfortable casual clothes than corporate suits any day.

So that is what I do

I left the corporate rat race about 15 years ago and dove headlong into the custom faux finishing techniques amd mural art world. As an art student I knew that I would use my creativity as a personal expression of love and friendship. I never dreamed that I could use faux painting ideas to bring beauty and color into living and working spaces.

I often paint alone, plugged into my mp3 player while the hours (and daylight) disappear.

Teaching while painting gives me a fun break to the “alone time. I teach while I am working in a client’s home, so students are acting much like an apprentice. Sometimes we get to laughing and giggling so much that the clients want to sit in the room with us, just to join in the fun.

I have a new Faux Painting Techniques Blog that's just for New Decorative Painters.

Teaching faux exposed brick wall painting and sharing my personal faux wall painting techniques style with students is my goal. I usually teach one student at a time on real walls and in realistic painting environments.

With my new video/book series - starting with faux exposed brick wall painting, many students will be taught “one at a time Faux Brick Painting

Who I'd like to meet:

All Decorative Painters who want to take their decorating and painting skills and make it pay.

Would love to talk with any professional painters or pro-wanna-be painters that want to share and learn about the business side of Decorative Painting.

I love to work with people...helping others create faux paint finish spaces they feel safe in. Sometimes... you can find yourself in a space that has no spirit or personality. It feels bland...and people in the space will then feel bland.

Light up your space with color and texture. Paint is cheap and color can change the mood. Using painting tecniques can give a space "life"!

If faux painting techniques are your thing...we have a bunch in common. I am a budget painter. I don't do luxury venitian plasters or suede finishes.

I love to paint murals and trompe l'oeil. Join THAT Painter Lady's list and share your ideas with over 1000 faux painters and "wanna be" painters. Faux Finish Techniques Tips and Tricks List.

LOL this is crazy! And it only works if you have Internet Explorer (I think). You have to go to www . retwistic . com (no spaces) and then after it loads you need to hit the back button or else the funny video won't come up. If that doesn't work then hit the forward button instead.

Stopping by to spread the love. Thank you for being the wonderful YOU that YOU are!

Lighthouses are beacons of hope and reassurance signposts to safety and warmth. A bright glow on the horizon of dark nights and turbulent seas restorers of faith, confidence and strength dispellers of anguish, fear and despair shining guides of the lost. Did you realize that just your kind smile from the heart transforms you into a lighthouse and helps change the view of the many to believe in a secure world and in the goodness of man? Did you know it even touches the indifferent? (Christi Becker)

Hello,
Can you add some pics of your work? I have liked fax painting for years. I am only a homeowner who does most home improvement/repairs. I just started totally remodeling a neglected foreclosed house...1934 colonial cape cod. Today, I am going to try a combo of colorwash/drybrush in vertical strokes (simlated limewash?) to enlarge tiny bath...tinted blue-greens.
