The Tribute scene in the UK has really taken off in the past few years, so it seemed perfect timing to launch the Faux Fighters, considering the hugely popular Echoes Silence Patience and Grace album, plus the double sell out Wembley shows and the BBC Radio 1 coverage the Foo Fighters have enjoyed lately! However, this isn't exactly a new venture for the Deighton boys.
It all started about 12 years ago in the early-mid 90's when lead singer and Guitarist Jamie Deighton spent several months living in Seattle. Then a huge Nivarna fan Jamie was introduced to a new up and coming band, the Foo Fighters. It's been a long time ambition to form the ultimate Foo Fighters Tribute! And after working with various other line ups Jamie has fianly arrived at the point where we are today, With a gig ready backline and an arsenal of Foo Fighter delights.
However, the line up changed hands a few times with people going off to persue other interests. And Jamie and Rich found themselves looking for a guitarist and a drummer.
So ads were placed to find a new guitarist, which was seen by Lee Wright. Not knowing how long the ad had been there, Lee was unsure whether the postion would still be avaliable. A couple of text messages later revealed the spot still open. A few names came to mind for the position of drummer and one other came highly recommended. So after a couple of jam sessions with two of the drummers picked for the spot, a desicion was made, pretty much after the first track. Luke Winton was in! The rest of that session sounded like they'd played together for years, everything clicked into place. With things sounding this good on the first rehearsal then we're surely in for a treat once the fine details of show specifics are put into place.
There is a lot of competition out there but all the members of the Faux Fighters are confident they are up to the job of being the UK's best Foo Fighters Tribute band. Jamies voice is un-cannily similar to Dave Grohls, and with the Grohl beard grown his dark hair and cheeky grin, his look is good too! Although the rest of the band may not be dead ringers for the people they represent, every effort is made to make their shows look and sound authentic.
The list of tracks on the set list is long with a show of at least an hour and a half long, all the favorites are in there. Including, All My Life, Best Of You, Pretender, Monkey Wrench, Everlong plus many more! There are also some less well known tracks for the hardcore Foo fans to appreciate.
With the official launch of the Faux Fighters taking place in November 2008, the new year holds a great deal of promise as they take the tribute scene by storm with a full on assault in 2009! With shows being planned in many of the major towns and citys across the UK as well as some of the smaller ones too. The Faux Fighters are also avaliable for private functions.
Look out for these guys coming to your town it'll be a show well worth seeing.
