Faux Pas Dance was created from a desire to give it's audience something that lasts long after the dancers bow, the curtain closes, and the lights go out. A desire to bring its audience to a place they both love and hate, one where they feel wondrously at home and, seconds later, disquietingly anxious. A desire to give them something that follows them home - a haunting melody they can't get out of their heads, a vision of movement that excites and plays with their eyes, a thought that begins the wheel of their minds to turn, sending that mental energy throughout their body, into their lives. Although dance is meant to entertain, and should never deviate from that goal, it is also an instrument that can stir the winds of the human soul and take us to a spot within ourselves in which we have yet to face, whether it be from fear or ignorance or pride.
Come and join us... but step carefully....

Goldilocks Meets Little Red
This program is geared for elementary and middle school audiences and has already been enthusiastically received by several schools. The program begins with an interactive performance of the fairy tale ballet "Goldi Meets Little Red", performed by Faux Pas Dance Company members, and is followed up by the students' classroom teacher using a syllabus that incorporates all four E.L.A. standards. The syllabus can be used in conjunction with English, Music, and Physical Education classes.
The Universe in Motion
This program is a six to eight week program that explores the universe and how we move in and around it. The students discuss concepts of space and time, shapes and patterns, energy, colors, and planets and interpret this information through movement and dance. The program culminates with the students, through storytelling and plot creation, applying the concepts they have learned to create their own dance performance.
