Favorite Saints is a Chicago quintet showcasing an impressive range of sounds and expression. Alison Rich and brothers David and Allen Johnson create a unique mood combining elements of rock with the resonant vocal harmonies and acoustic instruments of folk. Favorite Saints made their recording debut in 2005 with the Southern Gentleman CDEP, and released their first long-player in 2008 titled, 'The Ways We Echo'
Previously: David and Allen's former group, Very Secretary, was formed in 1997 in Champaign, Ill., by Braid drummer Roy Ewing, and David and Allen. Violinist Rachael Dietkus (City on Film, Days in December, matt pond PA) joined later and added subtle beauty to the band's critically acclaimed 1999 album, "Standing in the Shade" (Mud Records). David and Allen also were members of The One Up Downstairs, which featured Mike Kinsella and Steve Lamos (American Football, Owen). Polyvinyl released The One Up Downstairs three-song EP as a digital download in 2006, a decade after it was recorded.
Thanks a lot for the add! I (stan) really enjoy your music, and have been introducing it (first words, near dark, never turn in your brother, talk radio) to my friends ever since I heard First Words on pandora radio. Such awe inspiring beautiful sounds must be spread!
hey there, thanks a lot for being our friend! how's it going? have you had a chance to check out the new EP we put up? i'd love to hear what you think! keep in touch, matt and WATL PS...check out the music on itunes =]
Very Secretary was the soundtrack to my life in 1999-2000. "You gave me your silhouette instead when you said that you'd be there"...is one of my favorite lines ever! I love your current music. Scavenger sirs and first words are my favorites.
oh man, scavenger sirs and First words are fantastic! i still listen to very secretary all the time (mostly when bedding down with a very sexy lady). also made plenty of drives to the west coast by myself listening to it. so glad too hear you guys are still making music! if you guys ever need help in colorado contact me. Cheers!
considering the fact that we share two members in three bands and three members in two out of the three bands, i'm sure that's already happened in some way. holla!
