Influences
I heard & embraced a lot of prog-rock (Rush, Genesis, Yes, Gentle Giant) and what has become known as classic rock (Heart, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Bad Co.,) growing up, thanks to my dad, as well as a lot of soul, funk, and motown (Earth, Wind, & Fire, Hall & Oats, AWB, Stevie Wonder) from my mama. Of course, being a child of the early '80s, my bedroom radio favored Pat Benatar, Madonna and Prince. In high school I simultaneously got into punk (Crass, Black Flag, Flipper) & new wave (The Cure, New Order and many embarassing others) AND the Beatles - in a big way. Throughout my college years, I floated on a haze of industrial, trance and "pretty goth" (Meat Beat Manifesto, Underworld, This Mortal Coil), all the while secretly keeping tabs on the R&B lexicon (Prince, yet again!), and appreciating the classic singer/songwriters (Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, Carole King, Billy Joel). As far as female singers go, my personal faves are Janis Ian, Phoebe Snow, Minnie Ripperton, Joni Mitchell, Dolly Parton and Pat Benatar. As for music in general, I've always gone crazy over a plain ol' good song, in whatever genre.
Sounds Like
A mature, subtle yet complex weave of organic & manufactured textures, topped off with a soothingly truthful, expressive yet unpredictable voice. Think Carole King, Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell, early Heart ... a fresh
update on the '70s-era singer/songwriters who gracefully jumped both
genre and mood. A gracious fan who dwells in a certain mile-high village recently stated, "McLachlan, Griffin and Cohen -- they are your peers to my ears".
He gets it.
I was born, raised and educated in & around Philadelphia, PA. Looking back, I realize I've been writing songs for years, since I was about 10. In college I got more serious about it, then meandered my way around the country before setting my bags down in Los Angeles; a place I called home from September of '01 to October '08. Then I moved out of the crunch and into the Mojave.

It is a great day to be alive! What Question can I ask to empower myself and others? What new thought can I notice now to add to my creativity? How can I improve the experience of those I encounter today? What can I do to facilitate your Gift?
