About me: Welcome to Faye’s Border Collies. We would love to help find the right dog for you. I fell in love with this breed when I was introduced to them while working my German Shepherd in Obedience. I was impressed with their intelligence then and continue to be in awe of not only how smart they are but how athletic and hard working the breed is. My husband, Nelson, and I have worked Border Collies on our farm since 1996. Our stock consists of cattle, sheep and ducks.
I have been training dogs for over 25 years. I am a professional obedience trainer and offer both group and private lessons in my community. Puppies and dogs of all ages appear to like obedience exercises. I enjoy watching the relationships between humans and their dogs grow while teaching them obedience and tricks. It is always fun to witness the pleasure the owners express when they have built a relationship with their pets because of an increase in control and rapport.
At Faye’s Border Collies, we strive to have friendly, sociable working dogs true to their breed standard. Our dogs work stock, ducks, and play retrieve games with Frisbees, balls, and other toys. I take my responsibilities as a breeder seriously. Potential buyers of my puppies must be knowledgeable about the breed, have adequate space for them and understand that the Border Collie must have a job to do, have regular exercise and love. I prefer to place my puppies with families who have the time to spend with this wonderful breed, a sense of humor and are ready to accept the responsibility each puppy requires. Border Collies are intelligent, loyal, and have a good sense of humor. This breed thrives on human kindness and companionship. Border Collies do not do well in homes where they are left alone for long periods of time each day.
The health and well being of my puppies and dogs and the satisfaction of my buyers is very important to me. I offer a 14 month guarantee with each puppy. A copy of our contract will be provided upon request. References from folks who have purchased a pup from us are available to potential buyers. In addition, we ask our buyers to provide references prior to a sale.
Our puppies are raised in our home. The pups travel with us as much as possible, e.g., to friends’ homes, the local pet stores, etc. The pups are socialized during their development and they meet new people and other pups/dogs at appropriate ages. Our puppies are handled by adults every day. We vaccinate on schedule for our area and the vaccination record is sent home with each puppy sold. Our puppies are de-wormed at 3 weeks and every week after until they go to their new homes. We also play music and leave the television on to a children's station so that the pups can hear the voices of children and various sounds. We bottle feed each pup at 2 weeks (of course, in addition to the mother’s feeding them) in order to build trust and rapport with people and children. They are introduced to crates between 5 and 6 weeks so they are comfortable in them prior to leaving for their forever homes. In addition, each pup is given a collar and is started walking on a leash around 6 weeks of age.
All puppies are AKC and/or ABC registered. The parents of our pups are working stock dogs. The sires and dams have their hips x-rayed and will have an OFA rating. Since the gene has been discovered for Collie Eye Anomaly, our sires and dams have had genetic testing to ensure the pups will not be affected by CEA. Visitors are welcome here and we encourage people interested in our pups to come and meet them as well as enjoy a visit to our farm.
