Refuge is a ministry of First Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Missouri. Here, we understand that there is a lot of stress and pressure in life. We all need a refuge—a safe place to find sincere care and authentic relationships.
Together, as a youth family, we seek to support, encourage, pray for and have fun with one another. At Refuge, we believe that God is the ultimate Refuge in a world full of hurt and chaos. Rev. Melissa Hatfield, aka "Mel", has been the youth pastor at First Baptist Church for seven years and loves it! Mixing God and teens is her passion! She is also the coolest and only female youth minister around! She use to teach high school history (history rocks!) and served as a counselor for at-risk youth before she answered God's call to youth ministry.
YOUTH ACTIVITIES
BASECAMP
Basecamp is our youth Sunday School program on Sunday mornings from 9:30 - 10:30 am.
Middle school youth in grades 7 and 8 meet in room 101 by the Café.
High school youth in grades 9 -12 meet in the Upper Room of the gym. CHI ALPHA
Join us for Chi Alpha Sunday nights from 6:00-6:45 in the Upper Room of the FBC Activities Building! We play games, worship through music and have relevant discussions on life issues that relate to YOU. We encourage you to come and invite friends! C-GROUPS
C-Groups are small group student-led Bible studies for students. C-Groups meet in homes throughout the community on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. C-Groups are open to any youth in High School grades 9 - 12. They meet from 7:30 - 9:00 pm. We encourage you to come and invite friends! THE EDGE
Join us from 6:30 - 7:30 pm in the Upper Room of the FBC Activities Building for The Edge! The EDGE is our weekly Bible study for middle school 7th and 8th grade youth that meets during the school year. YOUTH PRAISE TEAM
This is a smaller group of vocalists and instrumentalists that perform often throughout the year. They rehearse on Sundays from 4:00 - 4:40 pm in the sanctuary. YOUTH CHOIR
For to grades 7-12. We rehearse most Sundays from 4:45 - 5:30 pm in the choir room. The choir sings often once a month in worship services as well as several different locations throughout Missouri and on the road.
