FCG ‘…Win The World Cup’
Now, my brother’s not known for his love of punk rock. So it takes quite an impressive band to not only make him tap his foot but this band also made him smile…and heckle…and say ‘I want their CD!’. As a live band FCG are fantastic. You can’t help but like them. Old School Punk Rock with a cheeky smile. So when the CD arrived in the post I was hoping that it would transfer. I wasn’t disappointed! The nine or so tracks on this CD are full of energy and aggression with some insightful lyrics. Tracks such as ‘Plastic Surgery’, attacking the need for purely fashion based modifications are balanced with songs like ‘Doctor Who’, “I don’t like your stupid hair…”, although I’m sure there’s a deeper message in there somewhere. Stand out tracks for me are ‘Go On My Son’, ‘Story Of My Life’, ‘Kained’ and the Ramones style ‘Ferret Cake Ruck’, which just repeats the title 17 times (I think) but still manages to be entertaining. If you’re sick of major label packaged punk rock, this is the CD for you. Only £3 from http://www.fcgpunkrock.com

Alan Damage can remember seeing Fatty at primary school and to to this day he still holds it against him. Didn't stop him following Fatty to secondary school though.
Anyway, a bored Damage starts work as a monkey at a motorway services where he ran into Fatty again. Damage asked Fatty if he wanted to join his pretend band '7p on Sad Ken' as former members 'Rozzaline Martini' (now to be found in Goodstaff) and 'Pigeon' fucked off elsewhere. They blatantly stole Dave (below) , the drummer of the Jodies and came up with their 2 classic songs 'Cheese and Ham' and 'I went up to him and I said to him yes mate'. All that went to bollocks as Damage had no musical talent, and Fatty expected Damage to teach him how to play.
A few years later they bumped into Merv when he flew out of a tent at the Reading Festival and puked his ring. Because of this impressive act he got signed up to play guitar. The name '7p' got dropped and they became 'Mongrel Patterson'. That got dropped for no reason and they became Ferret Cake Ginger.
Nothing really happened for a while until 98, when the mouth of Damage opened and they found themselves with a gig at the South West's premier music spot The Cavern. With no songs to play they shit themselves and whipped up 5 poor quality tunes in no more than 10 minutes. They played a triumphant debut gig which lasted about 13 minutes, and they even played all their songs at least twice. Now the Cavern can't get rid of them.
Right, this is where it gets confusing. Around May 2001 there was a bit of a reshuffle. Dave left to do more important things (get married, kids etc) and Horse joined. Fats was out, Damage moved over to guitar and their mate Sarge took over on bass. Pisswhip, who was originally just singing on one song ( imaginatively called "Pisswhip's song" ) joined full time as a second singer to make FCG a five piece. This carried on until mid 2002, when Sarge left. Damage went back to bass, and they continued with one guitar. Early in 2003, it was decided that their sound needed a bit more bollocks to it, so Fats rejoined.

Are the Plymouth and Torquay Punks gonna come out to play?
How could they not when we have the self proclaimed almighty gods of Punk Rock SHRAPNEL SUNTAN headlining these nights of raucous mayhem and disorder with local favourites HIV & The Positives, Justin Credible and the Droogs and the amazing Mr Mike Porter supporting what A NIGHT!
The 1 more tbc didn't confirm so if you fancy a gig and can play for free let me, Mo @ Punk Attack or Luke Soap Suds & PVA know.....
