The New Deal was born in the fall of 2005 when I began the daunting adventure of digging myself out of a creative rut by simultaneously writing and recording 50 songs in 50 days - one song a day (I drove everyone in my life crazy). From my bedroom apartment on Avenue C - overlooking the FDR drive, the east river and the lighted city skyline - I completed a new song each night between October 14th and Dec. 6th (with a few days off). Often recording until dawn, I played all the instruments - drums, bass, guitars, piano, and organ. Any harmonies and other vocals you hear are also just mine. Of the resulting 50 self-produced songs, 32 will be available in the spring of 2006 as a three-disc set entitled The New Deal. If you play it loud you'll hear the ambulances, buses and traffic roaring by on the FDR drive.

I still like your music. Yeah, even I'm surprised - usually I get sick of the music I love really quick. You should be flattered. I am a music snob. Here's to you and Furry Lewis and Bob Log III, Tom Waits, and Regina Spektor's wooden spoon. Come to Reno. I'll buy you a PBR.
did i space singing for you? and did we forget to write a song? I can't seem to recall the last time I ever saw your face, my friend.... are you around before the holidayhell begins...
felix felix my email for you doesn't work. are you out there? i'm coming to your turf to play in a couple weeks and it would be great to see you, most certainly. i'll be out, peddling a brand-new album - but just now i'm completely sideswiped and drugged by your songs. again.
Come to Reno when you get a chance... My town will love ya! And if they don't, at least you'll have Lake Tahoe 45 min. away; and that will make lil 'ol Reno worth the trip, I promise. Lake Tahoe = Heaven in the summer time (if you like cool, crystal-clear alpine lakes and sandy warm beaches)
Love the new stuff, all big and sweeping. Do you know my friend Paul Brill? You guys are up to the same kinda thing. Check him out. I'm going to point him your way too. Like the beard!
Hey there! I saw you a while back in Massachusettes with Architectue in Helsinki. You did a good job, and I commend you on your making 50 songs in 50 days. Once I get some money, I'll be sure to buy your album, haha. Good luck for the future.
Good to see/hear/hug you on Friday. Sorry I didn't stick around, but I'm an old lady now, and old ladies have to conduct themselves with decorum. Also, I'm a jerkface.
Well, thank you kindly. That Ms. Bradley is quite a nice gal. I see you're playing some of the same places I like to hit up as well. We should join forces sometime. - AZ
