A computer, a microphone, and some synth software. Oh, and whoever decides to join in with real instruments.
Influences
Singers mainly. In no particular order (ie, as I think of them): Mike Patton, Tom Waits, Mark Lanegan, Bjork, Thom Yorke, Josh Homme, David Bowie, Nick Cave, Jim Morrison, Jeff Buckley, Captain Beefheart, Buzz Osborne, Gene Ween, David Yow. These aren't necessarily my only influences, or the only artists I enjoy, just the ones who've had the most impact on my singing style (or lack thereof).
Matthew Hoffman: Film & TV VIP, Seeker of the Peace, Part-time Chandelier Cleaner, a Legend in his own Mind. Oppressor of Champions, Soldier of Fortune, World Traveller, Bon Vivant, All-Round Good Guy, International Lover, Casual Hero, Philosopher. Wars fought, bears wrestled, equations solved, virgins enlightened, revolutions quelled, tigers castrated, orgies organised, bars quaffed dry, governments run, test rockets flown.
Because Myspace has become so quiet of late, I have ventured over to the Bebo music pages as well. Feel free to check me out there as well:
