The band consist of
Sean Tierney [Vocals]
Tierney, the self-proclaimed Bastún, uses F.O.T.S. as a medium for his opinions on the world as he sees it. His lyrics are based mainly upon hatred and anger towards people in general. Like the rest of the band he is not afraid to push things and places absolute utmost importance in putting on a good live show. He just loves to scream.
Séamus O’Súilleabháin [Guitar]
Séamus is the main songwriter of the band, and draws influence and inspiration from every source imaginable. He listens to every style of music and this shows in his writing. Never one to back down, he fights for all his ideas because of his 100% passion and dedication to the band. Always thinking of ways to change the style and ideas that drive the band, he is the major creative force, and is always willing to experiment and take the insanity and intensity of the music up a notch.
Colm O’Sullivan [Bass]
Colm played bass in Heresy and when F.O.T.S. needed a bassist Colm was the first person on the list. Colm’s style is based on a solid foundation mixed with a groove inspired by his love of Sludge bands. The only quiet member, Colm sits back while everyone is arguing and then comes in to calm it down as the voice of reason. An invaluable member of the band, Zilla is truly the rock upon which the madness is based.
Paul Sayers [Drums]
If Colm is the rock of the band, Sayers is the one pushing away from sanity at an ever-increasing rate! His thinking seems to be that if “I can confuse myself and my bandmates with my drum patterns surely everyone else will be terrified!” However, there is some method to his madness, he is never willing to sacrifice the rhythm of the song just to showcase his skills. The ability he has to put discordant drum patterns to riffs and make them make sense either shows great talent or a complete disregard for sanity!

Could you love a vomit-inducing death metal band with lurching groovy rhythms and vocals from the very pits of hell...we hope so!
Fear Of The South started in June 2006 when ex-members of Listowel metal bands Heresy and Exit Wounds came together wanting to play heavier music than they had previously been playing. Guitarist Séamus O Sullivan and drummer Paul Sayers stayed holed up in Paul’s shed for a solid month learning songs. Then bassist Colm “Zilla” O’ Sullivan and singer Seán Tierney were recruited and the quest for true metal began!!!
They practiced for 6 months before their first gig and made certain that every song was tight and that they had enough confidence in our original songs to play them to any audience. Even though their first gig was only on the 26th of January 2007, they have been constantly updating and evolving there sound since. With gigs such as The Samhlaiocht Festival’s, Annual "Rock for Experience" gig in 2007, which the band described as "experiencing their most reactive crowd to date".
In the summer of 2007, the band recorded a demo and have been selling it anywhere they’ve played since. The band class their sound and writing style as having changed to a heavier, more extreme sound on their tracks “Hero to Zero Tolerance” and “The Burning Temple”. The band plans to include an Irish twist on there already rapidly evolving style.
One of the things that has kept the band going and has kept them improving is the pride they have in themselves and where they come from. Behind all this is a fierce pride in being Irish and in their local and national heritage. They think it’s very important that people know this about them, as it is a defining factor in what they are.
