So I'm bored. I was pretty entertained on MySpace for the past week or so because I got into a debate with this guy from my old school. Then the debate kinda died. It probably wasn't cowardice that prevented him from replying to my last post... it was probably that he just didn't see it, but it's so much more fun to think I won. Whatever.

Y'know, it's weird trying to argue with believers. The majority of them are nice, intelligent people, but it's like trying to argue with someone in English who only knows French. You're just coming from such a different worldview that it's really almost impossible for the other person to understand without coming over to your side completely. I've got a bit of an advantage in that respect since I used to be a Christian. Most Christians have never been atheists, though, so when they argue with nonbelievers, they're trying to jump over this huge idealogical gap without actually realizing it's there. Meanwhile, the atheist is utterly stunned by how they can believe life's worth nothing without a god or that morality is nonexistent without a vengeful, "loving" god. That's another thing, there's that "love" thing that god's supposed to have. The love that god has supposedly shown for humanity seems about the equvalent of a very mean teenager to an ant farm. It's just the weird logic of believers that freaks a lot of nonbelievers out. But hey, who needs logic when you have an all-powerful god on your side? Why should you need to live happily with other human beings when you'll be separated by all of heaven and earth after death? How long is this god going to support tolerance, that's what I want to know. He seems to change his opinion every few centuries.

"Life tells you nothing, it shows you everything."

"No heavens, no hells, just these endles worlds you create till you think you've got it right."

"The world is your exercise-book, the pages on which you do your sums. It is not reality, although you can express reality there if you wish. You are also free to write nonsense, or lies, or to tear the pages."

"There's no disaster that can't become a blessing, and no blessing that can't become a disaster."

"Everything in this book may be wrong."

This is a link to a news story from my old school in South Carolina.  Well, not the school, the church associated...well the church that ruled the school.  Some of you know how much that means.... others of you will remember my rants.... Special shout out to Heather, who's still stuck there, sorry Heather.
Hail to Northwood Assembly! If you watch the video, notice how the pastor says, "it's a terrible loss, but not a defeat." As if someone (or something) were working against the church... ha... ha... ha.. ahem...
