The best place to hide is in plain sight. So that is what the creatures that aren’t so human have decided to do. On the streets of present day New York City they walk among us. Vampires, fairies, and were-creatures hide in plain sight, protecting the secret of their existence.
Come join the ranks of the creatures of myth. But be careful. One wrong step could mean the exposure of your race. And in a world where peace only exists because the humans are ignorant, one slip could mean war. Enter the world of Fear and Bullets, but tread softly.
2028
Just over twenty years have passed since the Battle of Alcatraz Island took place. In the years that followed, things went from bad to worse for the mutants of America. Under President Roscoe Teague; mutants were herded into ghettos and branded with barcodes. Hundreds of mutants are dragged from the ghettos and sent to the camps. In 2011 Magneto is killed in a riot against the forced round-up. Xavier’s is destroyed to make way for human housing. After a series of violent and non-violent protests, Teague is removed from office and replaced by a mutant friendly president, one Robin Harkness. Everyone knows what happened next: the Civil Rights movement begins and mutants are given full and equal rights with humans in 2021.
It’s been seven years since that fateful day. Xavier’s has been re-opened and no one is afraid to admit they’re a mutant anymore. There are those in the mutant community who believe mutants deserve more than just equal rights with humans. According to these hardliners, humanity needs to be punished for what they did to mutantkind. These Punishers grew from the remnants of the Brotherhood, and they’re hopping mad. There are those in the human community who want things to return to the way they were in the Teague days. The Friends of Humanity despise mutants; they were responsible for the political assassinations during the Civil Rights Movement. In these times of peace, the Mutant Underground and the X-Men have allowed themselves to grow weak. Now, with the Punishers becoming more and more reckless, all it takes is one carefully planned bombing and the hard work of the past few years goes down the drain.
