For the uninitiated Feast of Fiddles is a musical entertainment put on annually by a band of friends presenting all kinds of playing styles, dynamics and musical genres – with a very strong – and rather English – traditional core. We are Phil Beer, Garry Blakeley, Joe Broughton, Ian Cutler, Guy Fletcher, Peter Knight, Tom Leary, Chris Leslie and Brian McNeill to the stage. These brilliant fiddle players are joined by world renowned drummer Dave Mattacks, Dave Harding (bass), John Underwood (guitar), Martin Vincent (guitar) and Hugh Crabtree (accordion).
“ If the audience was anything like me, it was not only my face muscles aching at the end of the night. My arms ached from much imagined fiddle playing, my head ached from the sheer virtuosity before me and my heart ached for more.” Fiddle On
“…the combination of talent gathered here is a very impressive compendium of fiddle styles, as well as a blend of acoustic and electric sounds.” Dirty Linen
“…Feast of Fiddles is far more than half-a-dozen of Britain’s most talented exponents of the instrument. It’s a joyous three hours of excellence and exuberance.” Get Rhythm
“…two children sat in front of me were mesmerised by the antics on stage.” Fiddle On

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
