Welcome to our MySpace page!
Feel The Quality Records started as Dub Direct Records. As that record label, two EPs "Dub Direct - Tenement Rydims" (2003) and "Bud Direct - Need To Know" (2004) were released, enjoying local success and diverse interest from different organisations across the U.K. FTQR has released five EPs "This That The Other - Urban Angst" (2005), "This That The Other - Fallen Soldiers" (2006)
"Lastwind - Monster Trucks (2006)", "Lastwind - Red Star Brigade (2008), "Rick Nowell - Light Echoes (2009)" . Whilst the musical styles featured include many influences, FTQR rejects the easy "been there already" music of other well-known Bristol collectives and tries to produce forward-looking styles.
Musicians that have worked with FTQR include Steve Sonic - truly a great lyricist and rhymer. This That The Other have been fortunate to enjoy the drumming of Rob Merrill - Mercury award winning with Roni Size and Reprazent. Recently, legendary spacerock keyboard player Paul Hayles aka Lastwind Music has been writing and performing with us. Playing guitar and bass is star Bristol musician Guy Calhoun, who is with Dub From Atlantis . Gorgeous Laurence de Loes sings for us and will feature alot in future FTQR releases. Latch Menghat plays rock guitar and helps run a studio, which has a surprising amount of rare gear. Bigga D is from a Jamaican background and has seen a lot of what life has to offer. Bigga's father was a DJ in JA before coming to the UK, and Derek continues that tradition with the biggest collection of 7" reggae records.
In 2009, FTQR will release an EP called "This, That, The Other - Opened In Error", which will be unmissable. Stay tuned.
FTQR has put a couple of demos up for listening. Out of Reach has yet to add guitars, vocals or be mixed. Geneva Cheeba was put together last summer 2008, and features Geneve's own Judgement Sounds; yet to be fully mixed...
