HOLST aka Johan Fredrik Holst (30), grew up in Stokke, a little town south of Oslo. He has been making music since the age of six. For the last ten years Holst has been living in Oslo, where he was involved in different bandprojects. In 2005 he decided to go solo, and brought his longtime friend and guitarist Oyvind Ekse along for the ride. Ekse produced Holst's first album, and keeps playing guitar in Holsts backing band "the distance to empty".
Holt's music is well founded in the singer/songwriter genre, drawing on influences from both country and rock. Influences include Daniel Lanois, Jeff Buckley, Town van Zandt, U2, Lenoard Cohen, Dave Matthews, Tom Mcrae and others.
Holst is all about using his creativity, and does not limit himself to just songwriting. Recent years has seen him exploring painting and writing shortstories.

Between concrete and steel is availble online. The album was produced by Oyvind Ekse and Oyvind Aamli, and mastered by Andy Jackson.
