Sounds Like
Folks say I sound like, Phyliss Hyman, Sade, Teena Marie, Chaka, Kate Bush...Musically, orchestral hip hop funk with a message...there it is!
I grew up in New Orleans in the lower 9th ward...before Katrina made it fashionable, and lived here all of my life. So I got that music gene that's in our blood. I began doing poetry and I'd sing on some of my pieces and started doing regular gigs with my mentor Eluard Burt. I never had a music or singing lesson nor can I read or write music. I wrote all my songs on a Triton after getting a crash course on seqencing one afternoon, from a friend of mine...thanks Rhajwanti...then I went in the studio with some cats who played what I did, but added their flavor, which is the only way I like it. I write mostly about personal experiences that people can relate to or may be going through themselves. This has been a long process to say the least, but if I can help one person from my experiences, it's worth it. People ask me how do I do it. It's just this thing that goes through me...spirit...yeah, that's it...
Felice, the pics are great! Keep posting - it just makes me miss New Orleans more. We will be there for the release party. Looking forward to seeing you.
