The Beatles, Neil
Young, You Am I, The Mountain Goats, Elvis Costello, The Descendents, Stevie Ray
Vaughan, The Tea Party, Alt Country, Nick Cave, Robert Johnson, who
can ever tell? A medicine degree, an English degree, an accounting degree, a
teaching degree a never-quite-finished engineering degree.
Sounds Like
We've been told we
sound like many bands, from Redgum to Everclear, from Something For Kate to John
Williamson. If it's playing up there on the little MySpace player, then you can
make up your own mind. It's the sound of rock and roll from Hobart. No fake
accents, just rock and roll with a story, some of which are honest, while others
are pure storytelling.
Fell to Erin are not the saviours of rock. Fell to Erin are not going to change the world. What is true, is that Fell to Erin’s new single METER MAID is their best yet.
Fell to Erin are a good band. Real good. These four skinny Hobart boys play catchy rock and roll with big guitars and strong melodies, and when Lincoln’s lyrics tell a story, people listen. With seven years under their belts, the songs are better, the crowds are bigger, and the performance is stronger, yet they continue to retain intimacy.
Their fourth disc, Stumble & Fall, is their first with producer Anton Hagop
(Powderfinger, Silverchair), and also their first national release with distributors MGM.
In 2005 Fell to Erin were awarded Tasmania’s Most Promising Original Contemporary Music Act; the Gold Logie of the Tasmanian music scene.
Several tracks from the third Fell to Erin release, April Monday have received major airplay on Hobart’s Edge Radio, as well as Triple J, 4ZZZ (Brisbane), 3RRR (Melbourne) and FBI (Sydney).
They have racked up an enviable list of over 200 shows, including supports with
Screamfeeder, Something For Kate, You Am I, Bodyjar, Grinspoon, Regurgitator, and The Cruel Sea. Fell to Erin played the Falls Festival in 2004, and have played three Gone South festivals (in 2003 headlining the TasMusic stage) and drank the rider of many bands who were important enough to get one.
We played some shows, we won some shit; now let’s move on and make it bigger and better.
