The musical love child of underground filmmakers Andrew Shearer and Monica Puller, FEMALE TROUBLE formed in fall 2003 to participate in a benefit concert for the RAINN charity (www.rainn.org), which raised enough money to keep their hotlines open for many many hours. While continuing to write and record demos for a future full-length album, Andrew and Monica’s music can be heard in such films as SCAB (2005), TWO IN THE PINK (2006), FIT ME (2007) and BLOOD WITCH (2008).
As a live act, FEMALE TROUBLE performs for special events and benefit shows only. Additional musicians Mitsu Bitchi (bass & vocals), Justin Freeborn (drums) and Daniel Heisel (drums) have helped bring the music to the stage. Our current live set consists of cover songs by female-fronted bands we admire such as PJ Harvey, Bikini Kill, The Gits, Patti Smith, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and many more. Most of us have been in various bands for well over a decade and are not looking for regular gigs at this time, so please don’t e-mail us about a show unless it’s for a cause that supports women in some way.
