About me:

"Changing the world for the better takes passion, dedication, information, resources, timeliness and mutual support. Today's activists need to access all that faster than ever before, so Feminist.com puts it at our fingertips."
- Gloria Steinem

Feminist.com is a thriving online community and definitive hub of resources and information dedicated to women's equality, justice, wellness and safety. Like a “feminist Google,” Feminist.com facilitates connections between women and the many, varied organizations serving their needs and interests worldwide. As a library, a promoter of activism, a networking engine, and an Internet “home” for women all over the world, Feminist.com advances women-friendly organizations, increases civic involvement, and promotes self-sufficiency, spiritual health and general wellness - always in keeping with the spirit of its mission of "Awareness, Education, Activism and Empowerment.”

Over the last decade, the non-profit Feminist.com has provided millions of visitors with quality news, original articles, anti-violence resources (including a comprehensive anti-violence resource guide in partnership with V-Day), and the critically acclaimed Ask Amy column by noted author and activist Amy Richards (Manifesta, Grassroots) with advice and information on issues impacting women and girls. We also feature columns continually updated by organizations such as Amnesty International, Equality Now, the Feminist Majority Foundation, Men Can Stop Rape, Omega Institute, RAINN, the Women's Global Green Action Network, the White House Project, the Younger Women’s Task Force, and various other vital columns. Women all over the world are actively connecting to information, organizations and each other, through the useful and varied links, activism alerts, event listings, and women-owned business listings offered at Feminist.com.

Feminist.com has won countless awards for its comprehensive content and resources, and has been reported on extensively in national publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Ms. Magazine for its dedication to promoting and sustaining women's well-being.

Feminist.com is not aligned with just one organization or agenda so it works in collaboration with many groups and helps to facilitate communication and cooperation between them. Feminist.com assists its visitors in finding the causes, issues and organizations that resonate with them, leveraging the massive potential of the Internet to connect, educate, and empower.

New Features!

Inspiring Conversations: Feminist.com Founder Marianne Schnall talks to inspiring and empowering people who are changing the world as we know it:

Women & Peace: Feminist.com is proud to announce a new, evolving section called Women & Peace, which was inspired by the Women, Power & Peace conference. We are committed to supporting a vision of true and lasting peace in the world and promoting the visionary people and organizations working towards that goal.

And we are always adding new columns from leading thinkers and organizations. We recently added a new column called United for Peace by the Nobel Women's Initiative. For a complete list of all our columns, visit our Columns section.

Video List for the Feminist, our newest column at Feminist.com, is an innovative and comprehensive directory of feminist-themed YouTube videos assembled by Paula Silinger with the aim of educating the general public on matters of gender (femininity and masculinity), reflexive stereotyping, socialization, representation, and feminist issues across the globe. Feminist film recommendations are provided. Check it out!

New book by Ask Amy columnist Amy Richards!
We are proud to announce that our very own Ask Amy columnist Amy Richards has a new book out, titled Opting In: Having A Child Without Losing Yourself. You can access an exclusive excerpt at our official site, Feminist.com.

"It's difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart." ~Anne Frank

Soroptimists International join forces to tackle education issues.

Together, primary schools for girls are built, giving the children a chance to read and write, equipping them for further education - so as to become independent and capable of making their own living in the future
-uniforms and books are provided for, and parents are motivated to take the children to school

I think the biggest disease the world suffers from in this day and age is the disease of people feeling unloved.

I know that I can give love for a minute, for half an hour, for a day, for a month, but I can give.

I am very happy to do that,
I want to do that.

~Princess Diana~

Much Respect!
Tonight, at 7:00 PM (PST) join your host Josy Catoggio for another fiercely independent edition of Feminist Magazine as we look at the top stories of 2008 with a feminist lens, and a new approach to ending rape, attempted rape and sexual assault.

Joining us is Editor in chief Rita Henley Jensen. Founder and Editor in Chief of Women's eNews (www. womensenews. org), Jensen was named by the New York Daily News one of the 100 most influential women in New York. A former senior writer for the National Law Journal and columnist for The New York Times Syndicate, Jensen has more than 20 years of experience in journalism and journalism education

Ms Jensen will be dialoging with us about the barriers for women that were broken in U.S. politics and hints of reform which emerged in unlikely places this year. At the same time, how women faced the impact of a global recession and a backlash in the battle to secure equal rights. Later we will be opening the phones, so get ready to discuss with Josy and Rita your thoughts, opinions on the top issues for women in 2008.

And, joining us is writer and activist Jaclyn Friedman co editor of "Yes Means Yes! Visions Of Female Sexual Power & A World Without Rape." This groundbreaking book addresses a shift from the "No means No" model. In 2006, 272,350, women survived rape, attempted rape or sexual assualt, according to the U.S. Dept of Justice, -this statistic, attests, that saying "NO" does not guarantee safety.

That is all on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at 7:00 PM with your host Josy, heard at 90.7 FM, Los Angeles, 98.7 FM, Santa Barbara, and streaming live and archived at kpfk. org.
