Phil Kieran is switching gears again. After three years of almost total dedication to his critically acclaimed Alloy Mental project ( www.myspace.com/alloymental), the Belfast DJ and producer is back to doing what he does best, making his own distinctive brand of dance music. Kieran has dug out the old techno gems , reflected on early influences like Joy Division and Aphex Twin, tipped his hat to newcomers like Marc Houle and Audion, and set to work on producing a catalogue of sure-fire dancefloor killers, for offer over the coming months. Last year Phil brought us ’Skyhook’ on Novamute and hooked up with Cocoon to release ‘I think I’m a monster’. Following both tracks widespread success the German label is also set to unleash ’Missp’ in March 08. Recent remix work includes ‘Hold my hand’ for UNKLE and the upcoming ‘Dancing Bears’ for Roel H, which is set to be massive.
Check it out! I wrote a free book on music production! It's for total beginners, but if you aren't new to music production, maybe you'll still learn something... at least you can send it to your friends who always want to ask you a billion questions about music production! It's totally free too; my goal with this is to accumulate as many BFF's as possible.
Hi man, I hope the oscillators are bending just right!
Recently, 3rd Thought Records released my debut album,'Synths of Yanihba' which is available on CdBaby now only for 7$. You can call it a Christmas offer, if you like ;). The album comes with a fantastic artbook by Venus Skytrap who helped me catalyse all the songs on the album to visuals (Find the collage we made from all the visuals below or click here). It also has my favorite cover with the IDM Monster and the Indian Heretic which you can find on my profile page.
So hoping you will pick it up and help me continue to come out with some more. Alternatively, you can also download MP3s of the whole album free on www. 3rdthought. com.
THEN... GLiTCH RETURNS WITH THE VERY TALENTED MILTON JACKSON OF FREERANGE RECORDS GLiTCH Vol 3 HOUSE, ELECTRO, MINIMAL - TECHNO SATURDAY 7th JUNE 2008 With Special Guest MILTON JACKSON (IDM / FREERANGE RECORDS) www. myspace. com/miltonjackson06 www. freerangerecords. co. uk Barry Christie AKA Milton Jackson has achieved a lot since kicking off his production career at the age of 19. His first EP ended up on a Roger Sanchez's Mixmag compilation so from the outset the bar was set high. A dedication to electronic music and days on end locked in the studio perfecting his dark, techno influenced deep house music has resulted in a considerable discography. A few years down the line and Milton is still at the top of his game, putting out a constant flow of EPs on a multitude of heavyweight labels, including Freerange, Urbantorque, Tsuba and Silver Network. DJ dates followed at venues such as Fabrik/Goa (Madrid), Womb (Tokyo), Sonar Festival (Barcelona) and Maria (Berlin). Being regularly played and charted by the likes of Carl Cox, John Digweed, Funk Dvoid, Jimpster and Ben Watt has put Milton Jackson at the forefront of the house music scene across the globe. Most recently Miton's Freerange outing 'Cycles' was a huge hit with the follow-up single 'Ghosts in my Machines' headed for similar acclaim. With a Freerange album in the makings, a remix for Joey Negro's Sunburst Band and a busy DJ-ing calender, 2008 sees no let up in the rise and rise of Milton Jackson.
