Edith C. Kurz

E.C. Kurz was born in Poland where she grew up with the best experiences in art. She is the 5th generation of drawers in her family and learned all about painting and drawing from her talented and famous father.

Her paintings are typical for their fine details and the clear and elegant lines. It is fascinating to watch her drawings and recognize an unbelievable similarity to the real model.

After school she went to Germany for painting studies and used the openess and inovating art-ideas of the Berlin art-people.

E.C.K. started with her studies at the "ABC Kunstschule Paris" in Hamburg while she was in Berlin for work. Next to her studies and job she managed her own private galleries for friends and other fans of her unique painting technique and earned a bit money for her first steps into a painters life in emerging Germany.

In 2000 E.C. Kurz tried a new technique called "Bob Ross Painting" and got her certificates of attandance in Landscape, Flower and Wildlife Painting.

But it was her faible for ancient chinese art and the influence of her husband, who was an advicer in Feng Shui and trainer for Martial Arts, which opened E.C.K. a new thinking and imagination of painting.

Inspired by the philosophy and secrets of Feng Shui she created a unique technique in chinese painting which combines for example linen fabrics with chinese luck coins and textil colours in a feng shui drawing design.

E.C.K.'s galleries are famous for their colourful and mysterious flair of chinese charme and harmony.

Her motto:

Feng Shui

Feng Shui (or kan yu):

feng: winds

shui: waters

kan: hills

yu: valleys

The basical principle of Feng Shui (or kan yu) is that a "vital spirit" or "cosmic breath" (chi or qi in Chinese) runs through the earth in a manner which is dependent on topography.

But the true fundamental concept of Feng Shui belongs to the ancient chinese knowledge of "Yin and Yang". It is the Chinese perspective of balance and continual change. The outer circle of the symbol represents "everything", while the black and white shapes within the circle represent the interaction of two energies:

yin > black

yang > white

Ancient chinese transcripts say, that heaven was created by the concentration of Yang, the force of light, earth was created by the concentration of Yin, the forces of darkness. Yang stands for peace and serenity; Yin stands for confusion and turmoil. Yang stands for destruction; Yin stands for conservation. Yang brings about disintegration; Yin gives shape to things...

To be aware of that theory you are able to understand that there are also five elements in feng shui that symbolise the five basic forces in the universe. These five elements continously affect our fortune, for better or worse. Each element is associated with a colour. These elements are metal, wood, earth, water and fire.

So the colours silver, gold and metallic represent the element METAL, while WOOD is related to shades of green, blue and brown. To activate the energies of WATER you have to use the colours of black, dark blue and grey, while FIRE belongs to reds along with purples and pinks. The EARTH element is rooted in colours such as yellow, beige and earth tones.

Colours affect us physically, psychologically and emotionally and they are responsible for the harmony of our daily wealth.
