FEN HOLLEN'S BIOGRAPHY:
Fen Hollen was formed in March 2005 by Menelyagor and Grond, when the two like minded individuals set out to create Black Metal they way they always wanted it.
Both having come from no previously established bands, and having very different individual styles left us unknowing what to expect from the beginning!
When we started writing the very first chords, we knew right at that moment that we were onto something potentially great, and the merging of the two individual styles blended well creating a very unique, distinct sound, and this was the foundation which our debut "Winterspirit" was built upon.
The material for this release was compiled between the months of March and October 2005, and a 4-track version of "Winterspirit" was recorded but never released in this time. Due to extreme personal circumstances at the time, Menelyagor and Grond spent almost a year apart, and the material for "Winterspirit" waited dormant for the right time to come.
"Winterspirit" was finally recorded on the 9th and 10th of September 2006 on an 8 track digital recorder, and was edited, mixed, completed and released ENTIRELY by the band.
A more severe drought was to follow in late 2007 as turbulent times surfaced yet again. Extreme personal circumstances forced extreme pressures upon the two, causing disagreements that ended the band indefinately.
Unsure of the Future that now plagued Fen Hollen, but still wanting to write music spawned the creation of Gronds' solo project "The Rivers' Source" and Menelyagor's solo project "Artanor"
After the long time apart working on our solo projects, we realised how much Fen Hollen meant to the both of us, and Grond and Menelyagor were once again inspired to reignite the Fen Hollen flame! The desire to write new material, and the will to rise up from this diabolical past that has plagued us since the beginning has never been stronger, and the re-construction of Fen Hollen is now well underway!
Material for a new release is currently in its early stages. Updates on progress will be posted as it becomes available.
