Apart from Songs of Nozrul, Ferdous Ara has also made old classics, pop standards, and patriotic songs part of her regular performing and recording repertoire. She earned fame not only due to her versatile and agile voice but also becuase of dedication and discipline. Ferdous Ara is immensely popular for her live concerts and for her rendition of "ragaa" based Nozrul Geeti/ Sangeet. However due to a concious marketing decision by the record companies most of the songs recorded by her are "peppy" numbers. While this has made her stray from her first love - classicaly based songs, she has become very popular to the mass and has even become a playback singer.
One of her popular-standard albums was chosen by HMV, the most famous Music Company of India. She has to her credit truly earned the legacy of Feroza Begum, the most time transcending Nazrul singer of Bangladesh. She currently conducts and presents a monthly program titled "SHANCHITA" on a widely watched Satellite TV based out of Dhaka. Despite her success she remains humble and dedicated to her art.
Ferdous Ara, is an instructor at the Nazrul Institute and, has of late founded "SHUR SHAPTAK" - a music school of her own. She has taken parts in as many concerts including the Gala Concert at Royat Albert Halt, London.
The most remarkable writing of Ferdous Ara's lone publication entitled "SHANGIT BHUBANEy NAZRUL" testifies to her potentials as a master in Nazrul's Musics.
