"ferrochrome" was the name of a certain kind of compact cassette, used to exchange music with friends, create mix-tapes to share special moments with your favourite girl, fill the Walkman for your journeys and carry the soundtrack to your life with you… ... Those were the days the band "ferrochrome" grew up in, became musicians and recorded their early songs on…ferrochrome tapes… ... After a decade of playing in local bands and a few years of home-recording Frank (Bass) and Thorsten (Guitar), longtime friends and band-mates through the nineties, founded ferrochrome in the summer of 2005 with drummer Mirko. Starting a real band again and getting back to the dark caverns, turning the amps up to 11 and letting the ears bleed after all that home-recording stuff. But not all aims could be reached with a three-piece-band. To expand the band's sound a fourth member was required. Well known to the band for years, Holly (Guitar) got the call. On his birthday he first joined the band in August 2006 on bass. Frank switched from bass to guitar. With this old school four-man-band everything was possible and the rock began to roll...again... ... In August 2007 ferrochrome played their first show at the "Risin' Rock Festival". Later that year they recorded the album „The Bikini Ghost Fleet" at Kornboden Studio. It was a kind of D.I.Y. product and came out in March 2008 (as a self-release). It features Holly on two songs playing guitar and Frank back on bass. Developing new songs and sounds, Frank and Holly changed instruments for another bunch of songs and that became the final lineup. Until... ... In March 2010 the drummer left the band for personal reasons. There was only one way to complete the gang again: an old buddy from the "ferrochrome days" was asked to do the job, and ska/punk - influenced Andreas (Drums) took over on the drum set. Finally, the next chapter in the band's history has begun... ...
