Pour sa deuxième édition annuelle, Le FESTIRAAM 2009
propose fièrement une programmation explosive de rythmes du Sénégal, de la Guinée, de la Côte d'Ivoire et de la Barbade!
L'édition 2009 est dédiée à Mamadou Konté, d'Africa Fête, "Le talent d'Afrique"
et son parrain en est Ismaël Lô,
chanteur sénégalais de réputation internationale. Le FESTIRAAM 2009 se tiendra les 24 et 25 avril prochain, au Métropolis.
Mamadou Konté
Mamadou Konté est, depuis la fin des années 70, l'ambassadeur mondial des musiques africaines. Après avoir guidé la carrière d'artistes
fondateurs tels Salif Keita, il a assis la notoriété d'Africa Fête aussitôt qu'en 1978, sur un triangle atlantique qui relie Europe,
Afrique et Amérique. Jack Lang, alors ministre français de la Culture, manifeste une reconnaissance officielle de ce travail en
élevant, fin 1992, Mamadou Konté à la dignité de Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. Tidiane Soumah, président fondateur du
Festiraam, tenait à rendre hommage à ce géant de la culture africaine en lui dédiant cette deuxième édition.
For its second annual edition, FESTIRAAM 2009 proudly presents an explosive programming of rhythms from Senegal, Guinea,
the Ivory Coast and Barbados! The 2009 edition is dedicated to Mamadou Konté, of Africa Fête, "The African Talent" and its
spokesperson is Ismaël Lô, the internationally known singer hailing from Senegal. FESTIRAAM 2009 will be held on April 24
and 25 at the Metropolis.
Mamadou Konté
Since the end of the Seventies, Mamadou Konté has been the world ambassador of African music. After having successfully
managed the career of great artists such as Salif Keita, as early as 1978 he established the reputation of "Africa Fête"
on an Atlantic triad connecting Europe, Africa and America. In 1992, Jack Lang, then French Minister of Culture, expressed an
official recognition for the work of Mamadou Konté by naming him as a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters. Tidiane Soumah,
founder and president of Festiraam, wished to pay homage to this giant of the African culture by dedicating this second edition to him.
