  • Bio

Doing live music right means teaming top-flight musicians with an all-pro recording and post-production team to create a live music release that stands the test of repeated listening. It means working closely with the artists to be sure that the download you buy is one they are proud of, and that it presents them at their live best. It means paying everyone involved - the festival, the artist and the composer - a fair royalty from every sale. And it means giving you the best possible listening experience at a fair price. FestivaLink.net's mission: FestivaLink.net's mission is to capture "festival moments" and make them widely available while the memories of the show are fresh in your mind. We help keep memorable music alive by releasing recordings from the archives of festivals, clubs, and radio shows. FestivaLink.net offers recordings you'll find nowhere else. Register here for first word of music exclusives as soon as they're available. About FestivaLink.net recordings: FestivaLink.net recordings are not simple board tapes. We work hand in hand with an all-pro recording team, capturing every note in high-resolution audio. Then, the recordings are carefully mixed and mastered, and offered in three popular formats: protection-free and speedy MP3s and CD-quality FLAC downloads compatible with your iPod or other MP3 player, and the still-popular and convenient CD, sent to you by mail. We continue to receive positive reviews for the production quality of our live releases. FestivaLink sounds good thanks to the technical support we receive from our sister company, Airshow Mastering. Rarely do the engineers get the shout-out their effort deserves: James Tuttle, Jason McDaniel, and Anna Frick are our mixers; Jason and Anna handle editing and mastering – all overseen by chief mastering engineer David Glasser, who has given unstinting support to our efforts. Artists considering live releases would be in good hands with the Airshow team (www.airshowmastering.com). Recently, we asked our listeners to answer some survey questions. We’re glad we did. Here’s what we learned: You support musicians: • Over 70% purchase recorded music monthly or more frequently. • Over 60% attend live music events monthly or more frequently. • Most respondents buy music online from multiple sources, citing musicians’ websites and FestivaLink.net most frequently. You care how your music sounds: • Over 70% listen to a lot of music at home – from over 10 hours a week to “constantly.” • 2/3 of respondents prefer CDs or CD-quality downloads over compressed MP3s. • While few of the respondents have HD radio, nearly everyone has a component stereo system, and most respondents can listen in surround through an audio system or a home theater system. You use computers to store and playback your music: • Most people listen to their recorded music on more than one device: listening is nearly evenly split among CD players, personal digital players, and computer desktops. • Nearly 1/2 of all respondents store more than 250 albums on a hard drive. When we asked our customers how we could improve our music service, the number one request was for “more music.” We couldn’t agree more.

WE ARE fans of acoustic and roots music.

WE ENJOY watching live music performances.

WE LOVE spontaneous musical combustion.
When artists perform at festivals, sometimes they play old songs in new ways, sometimes they play new songs with new people.

WE ARE seasoned audio pros who want recorded live performances to sound as good as they can. We want to help musicians present their live shows in the best possible way.

WE RESPECT the risk and the hard work involved in producing great music festivals year after year. We want to support the festivals we care about and the songwriters and touring artists whose livelihoods in roots and acoustic music depend on them.

OUR RECORDINGS are not simple board tapes. Rather, we capture the music in multitrack recordings that are carefully post-produced after the festival. Artists always have the final say in what performances we release. And everyone – festival, artist, and songwriter – is fairly compensated.

OUR DOWNLOADS are available in MP3 and FLAC formats; we also sell CDs of our recordings.

We have released recordings of rare live performances from MerleFest, Newport Folk Festival, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Rhythm and Roots Festival, Cowboys In The Sky, Wintergrass, The Taos Solar Music Festival, All Good Music Festival, A Night Out With Friends, and the 46th Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival.

Please peruse our ever-expanding catalog of performances. When you register at our site, we will let you know when new music is available. ..
