I was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica and grew up in New York. I'm a publicist and freelance writer, as well as the Editor-In Chief of CaribRock (http://caribrock.blogspot.com), a new Web blog about Caribbean music and culture.
On the regular, I see the world as a flight attendant for North American Airlines. I've been to more places in one month than most people see in a lifetime.
Reggae music is my national anthem, but I love Zouk, Afro-beat, Neo-Soul, Hip-Hop, Rock, R&B, Alternative, Electronica, House, Acid Jazz, New Age...and MORE! I have eclectic taste in music.
The time is now for Jamaica to recognize Bob Marley for his efforts as a humanitarian, spokesman for Rastafarians, and ambassador of reggae music!
Bob Marley has enriched Jamaica's culture through the message of protest music that inspired many people to "Get Up, Stand Up" and take a pro-active approach to challenging injustice and inequality. Despite some of our faults, he honored us as a people. He deserves the same.
Bob Marley should be Jamaica's 8th National Hero and with your support, we can lay to rest years of Jamaica's resistance toward the will of the people. Please sign the petition and encourage others to do the same.
