Q.What is the THE FLESH HUNGRY DOG SHOW?
A. The Flesh Hungry Dog Show is a monthly live rock and roll showcase for queers and friends. We're usually the third Friday of every month at Jackhammer (6406 N. Clark St., Chicago). Check our website for exact show dates. We usually have 3 bands. In addition, sometimes we'll have special guest performers, like soloists, spoken word artists, commedians, or whatever.

Q. Do I have to be a stark raving homosexual to attend or perform?
A. No, THE FLESH HUNGRY DOG SHOW is open to all. In fact, TIME OUT CHICAGO called us "possibly the most diverse scene in the city". And, we like it that way.

Q. What bands have you had?
A. We've been fortunate to have some great Chicago and touring bands play our shows including Baby Teeth, The Dirty Things, The Countdown, Dylan Rice and the Dynasties, Jen Porter, Bang! Bang!, Jinx Titanic, The Beazley Phillips Band, The Jagoff, Three Dollar Bill, Stewed Tomatoes, and many, many more.

Q. Can my band play THE FLESH HUNGRY DOG SHOW?
A. The answer is a resounding MAYBE! We're always looking for bands with GLBT members or GLBT content in their lyrics, but non-sexual orientation specific bands are welcome too (in other words, no, you don't have to be gay to perform at THE FLESH HUNGRY DOG SHOW). We like pop, punk, electronic, lounge, garage, grunge, folk-rock, etc. We are very open to different genres! Email us through myspace or through our website (www.fleshhungrydog.com). Be sure to include your name, email, phone number, and web address.

Q. How did the Flesh Hungry Dog Show get started?
A. Flesh Hungry Dog was originally a band fronted by Gary Airedale. They performed at local gay bars and put together shows with many of their friends who were also musicians, and other types of performers. FHD made Jackhammer their permanent home in April of 2005, and have been doing monthly shows there since. Flesh Hungry Dog as a band broke up in the summer of 2006, but Gary Airedale still books the bands and hosts THE FLESH HUNGRY DOG SHOW.

There is within each of us a spirit that reaches out to all others. That part of us is not controlled by our egos, it knows no time, it knows no boundaries, it has no concept of death...it is undefeatable. It is the friend that we wish, we seek, we know and yet cannot fathom. Welcome to my circle of friends.

"...It is hard to sometimes walk away from a problem in order to solve it. Sometimes our burdens seem so great that they are irresolvable. I have learned this from the study of Logic: To actually know that a problem exists there needs to be some form of a solution to base it on that it exists. As in Physics we cannot measure darkness, so we used Mythos to describe the darkness, even the darkness of our minds. Mythos predates and is the ancestor of our modern Psychologies. The problems we find hardest to walk away from are those that cause us to feel dread. What is easiest to change is the feeling of dread..." From the book: The Lyth of Lemmings by Frank Mueller

A Field Guide to Gay and Lesbian Chicago loves you!!!

A Field Guide to Gay and Lesbian Chicago is a chatty, opinionated guide to gay and lesbian life written by two longtime residents who have the scoop on where to stay, where to go, and what to do for big gay fun in the Windy City.
