Created out of the flames of creativity found too commonly at Lafayette High School, the F-Holes grew as a sort of joke. The current group, along with current music education student Kate Bowling, worked with Dr. Kenneth Slavett on Haydn's "Bird" Quartet. When a form for an ensemble festival requested a name for the group, the growing string quartet decided on F-Holes.
Since that day, not much has happened other than a few small performances. But don't fear. The F-Holes' Renaissance is starting now! The F-Holes group does not want to be chained down to common perceptions of "classical music." Opting to play more modern pieces, or those with strong emotional attachments, the F-Holes is slowly, but surely working on Smetana's String Quartet No. 1. Please stay tuned to learn about upcoming concerts/gigs. We look forward to a great year.
