R.E.M
Reckoning [IRS]
A singer mumbles in the spotlight of private epiphany amid a dervish of shadowy action, Bill Berry's thug-garage drum, Mike Mill's weird harmony and Peter Buck's punk-Byrds guitar backing up wails about shifted statues, harboured ghosts and seven Chinese brothers. After the empyrean drift of their 1983 debut Murmur, Reckoning found R.E.M reaching into their post-punk beginnings as the half-moons of their singer's weird camera mind came into eerie near-focu. If Mitch Easter and Don Dixon's unsentimental production added an unsettling, keening edge to Michael Stipe's wail it also gave the 'underground' R.E.M a kick into the mainstream. Alternative was born here. - AM

Fidelitorium Recordings's Blurbs |
About me:
The Building
Designed by Wes Lachot (www.weslachot.com), the studio features 16 foot ceilings, natural light, and plenty of room for any set up. Room acoustics produce notably accurate frequency and spatial response. You can trust what you hear in the control room! In addition to the main studio, there are 6 isolution booths with sight lines to the other recording areas and control room. The spacious front lounge area is acoustically separate from the studio, and has a complete kitchen. Our client list speaks for itself.
