My first four solo albums (1998-2003) attempted to fuse 60s Bob Dylan with Derek Bailey and the Pixies in a distinctly New Zealand style. I also formed the bands The Winter and Ascension Band in Wellington.
My most recent album 'After Maths & Sciences' was a piece of postmodern performance journalism evoking life in Australia in 2005.
In 2007 my feature-length movie 'Steampunk Folktronica' premiered at the NZ Film Archive. I am currently based in South Korea, so look out for some new Asian-influenced musical directions.
New Zealander Dave Edwards’ solo albums fused lo-fi acoustic and electric songs, spoken word and free improv.
More recent works show an instrumental shift from guitar to banjo and woodwinds, and incorporate computer, field recordings from international travel and video projections.
Collaborative works include guitar/cello/drums trio The Winter; award-winning 14-piece Ascension Band; ’ddpp’ album with Paul Winstanley; and quasi-historical Steampunk Folktronica project.
Started in New Plymouth, moved to Wellington 1999, to Melbourne 2005, to Nelson 2006, South Korea 2007 and Europe 2008.
Now using the ID3 tag ’fiffdimension’ to avoid confusion with at least two other musicians by the name of Dave Edwards.

Great thanks :) I..m writing a novel which is set in Mongolia, in the near future, so it..s partly research and partly a long-held fascination with the country. Just hope I won..t have to rewrite everything when I get back. Would love to see the Nadaamm, you..ll have a great time I think :)
Thanks for the add! Loving your music, very experimental but structured at the same time. I..m currently writing a novel set in Mongolia, would be interested to hear about your trip to Ulan Bator in July. I..m hoping to go in September.
Thanks for adding me and kind comment :) Your music is unique and great. And we wish we could play with you guys someday. It would be nice :) And let me know when ur band have a gig :)
