"Clearly with the trends in diabetes and obesity, we need more people thinking creatively about how to address the problem.
I hope, as my career continues to grow and expand, that I will be one of those people" - Nicole Johnson

"Diabetes is a serious disease and it can be especially tough on kids," said McNabb. "But with positive education programs and activities like those provided at American Diabetes Association camps, kids with diabetes can learn to be more comfortable about who they are and what they need to do to manage their disease."
"Being diagnosed as a teenager was tough. "I didn't understand how I could go from being a normal kid to, overnight, having this lifelong disease that was incurable," says Yamin. While other kids were just worrying about getting their drivers' licenses, Yamin had more serious concerns. "Luckily, I had the support of my endocrinologist, my other doctors, my mom" -- who has type 2 diabetes -- "and my family."

Team Nelson Walked on October 14, 2007 in Niantic, CT and was able to raise over $2,000.00 in a matter of months.
It's that time again to start thinking about walking to find a cure for diabetes!
A lot of you contributed last year by either donating or walking, some both! I am hoping to earn more money for the JDRF! This years walk will be on September 28th, 2008 in North Haven, CT.
Really breifly most of you know my brother Rob was diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic just 4 years ago. Ever since then our entire family has adjusted and learned a lot!
Being a teacher I see a lot of my studnents being diagnosed way too often and it just breaks my heart. By donating towards this walk and even perhaps walking with us, you are helping out a GREAT deal.
Not only finding a cure for my brother but for all who are diagnosed. Please click on the link below and at least sign up for the walk for now.

You don't have to donate money yet. Find Team NELSON and sign up there. I am the captain. I really appreciate all who will be involved this year. Last year team NELSON raised just over $2,000.00! My goal this year is $3,000.00! I know we can do it!!!!!
Hoping for a cure soon,
Kristin
This year, I took part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we tried to reach our goal of raising $100 million.
Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people—a large and growing percentage of them children.
There is some good news, though. For the first time, scientists are predicting that we CAN expect to see a cure well within our lifetime!
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!

Who I'd like to meet:
MAKE A DONATION!!!!!!!!!!
JDRF is closer now than ever to finding a cure.
Your donation will make a dramatic impact as JDRF moves life altering research out of the lab and into human clinical trials.
Typically, more than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and research-related education.
Type 1 diabetes is a disease which strikes children suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump.
By supporting JDRF's mission to find a cure you won't only be saving children, you will be saving childhoods.
CLICK HERE AND DONATE WHAT EVER YOU CAN!! EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS!!

I've just sent you a Cool Heart for your Willy's Sweet Shop. Can you please send me one back? The more gifts we send the more money we can raise for St. Jude Children's Hospital.
