Fighting The Influence, the alternative pop/rock band was formed in 2007 in Fall River, MA. Singer/guitarist Joshua Pereira, singer/keyboardist Pedro Braga, and drummer Sandro Braga had only played several shows together before partnering with A&P Studios, an independent design/ promotion company who sought to promote FTI’s unique blend of styles to the MA/RI local music scene. After recording their first single “Reach for the Moon” with White Noise Records (RI), the band’s single was released on the label’s debut compilation album, entitled “Recorded, Remixed, Reborn” alongside other local talents such as, Heather Rose and the Drama, Mastamindz, and Arcadia Landing in December of 2007 at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in Providence RI.
After the success of “Reach for the Moon”, a year later in September of 2008 Fighting The Influence recorded and released their debut self titled EP, along with a music video for the successful single. Over the next year, the band toured New England and played churches and venues from New York City to Philadelphia, which established a strong audience amongst Christian and Non Christian, listeners.
In 2009 bassist Andrew Cabral joined FTI and consummated the band’s roster, bringing to the table, both musical qualities and friendship that would spark the bands success in the upcoming months. Finally on November 7th 2009, Fighting The Influence released a brand new, professionally produced music video alongside independent video producer, Habib Semaan for the single “This is Goodbye”. The music video release show, along with the band’s new product sponsor Rockstar Energy Drinks, attracted a crowd of over 200 people, filling the “International Church” in Fall River MA, to near capacity.
What makes Fighting the Influence so unique is the passion felt behind every song, and their drive to achieve their goals as a band. When FTI goes up on stage, from the first note to the last, audiences are captivated, and left thriving for more of the band’s energy, and unprecedented signature sound that has kept them listening, interested, and coming back for more. In essence, FTI is a band with a bright future. They have achieved so much in a short two years, and like a driving force, will continue to do what it takes to reach the world with their music. Join them in Fighting The Influence.
