Fight OUT Loud is a national non-profit organization dedicated to empowering GLBT individuals and their allies to fight discrimination and hate. www.fightoutloud.org
The mission of Fight OUT Loud is to empower everyday people to stand up for themselves in the fight for their rights. We seek to provide immediate resources, support, education, and assistance for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals who are faced with discrimination and hate. No situation of discrimination should slip through the cracks and go unchallenged.
Fight OUT Loud is a resource for the entire community that seeks to raise awareness, educate and inspire the public to fight the still present discrimination and hatred focused on the GLBT community. We also provide training to the GLBT community and its allies on how to become leaders and advocates in their own communities.
Fight OUT Loud works to get satisfactory resolutions by guiding individuals through the maze of obstacles that can come from speaking out publicly on GLBT issues. Fight OUT Loud also assists the GLBT community and its allies by mobilizing them against discrimination and hate crimes through its ACTION ALERT TEAM.
By providing these services, Fight OUT Loud empowers individuals to become activists and gives them the tools they need to continue to be leaders in their communities even after their own situation is resolved.
Fight OUT Loud is a registered non-profit organization, with 501(c)3 Public Charity status from the IRS. All donations are tax-deductible.

REPOST FROM A FRIEND: HATE CRIME IN METAIRIE, LOUISIANA
Camelot's near the corner of 18th and Hessmer in Metairie was the scene of a hate crime this past Saturday, Oct. 11.
My younger sister, Torrye, was celebrating her 25th birthday with her friends by taking a party bus out for the night. She was invited by the owner of Camelot's, her former boss, to stop in and have some drinks. She did just this with her first stop of the night accompanied by her friends, most of whom are homosexual.
They had not reached beyond the inside entrance of the bar before being berrated with derrogatory rants and expletive remarks. They were told clearly they were not wanted in this bar. No fags, fudgepackers, gays, queers or any other derivative of these words were allowed in this bar. The decision to leave was simple and made easier by the barrage of bottles, trash and any other nearby projectiles being flung their way. The owner did nothing to hinder this attack.
My sister's group retreated to the bus in an attempt to leave, but was stopped and physically assaulted by the group from inside, most of whom were men. Men struck girls and jumped guys, leaving many with bruises, cuts and bloody clothing; as well as, a broken jaw suffered by a girl from the fist of a man. The owner did nothing.
It was not until the police arrived that it was made known that an off-duty police officer was among the assaulting group who did nothing to prevent this horrific event. He was not arrested. Additionally, the JPPD officers who responded were threatening and verbally abusive to my sister and her friends, stating any complaints on the handling of this situation would be met with arrest. 9 of the assaulting people were arrested and one of my sister's friends was as well - the girl whose jaw was broken for allegedly throwing a bottle at the group; the same group who all threw bottles at them.
