Sounds Like
...I found myself in a tangle of soft, yielding flesh that seemed boneless. And the faces! They were vile parodies of human faces and resembled nothing quite so much as the ugly little vampire bat of Earth. Flat faces with huge nostrils let into the head, gashes of mouths full of sharp little fangs, half-blind eyes, dark and wicked - and insensate. As I fought their claws, their sharp teeth and their spears, they slithered about, gibbering and twittering...

"Finally, a band has emerged that combines my love of experimental improvisation and dub with my love for spiders (seriously, I love the creepy little bastards). The brilliantly named Fight Spider with Spider lists David Lynch and John Zorn amongst its influences, has an instrumental credit for "mad scientist station," sound like a horror movie is supposed to feel -- you know, kind of creepy and unsettling and leaving you unsure what is coming next -- and sport song titles such as "Elephant Hand of the New Godhead Night." In other words, it's like they reached into my brain and pulled out my blueprint for a perfect band."

"This band includes former members of Fucking Orange and Presidents Wives (among others) so I expected something completely different from what it is, which I think actually made them more interesting to me. If you know Justin Loendorf (Monofog, Fucking Orange, Guyve, Presidents) you almost have to think of him as an incredibly intense character who is great at savage and explosive guitar work, but the guy is perfectly capable of highly textured atmospheres and free jazz-inflected ambient music. And that's what this band pretty much is. Like the guys fully embraced avant garde music, noise, jazz and something they've invented all on their own. Vinnie Fasano performs almost a spoken word piece with some songs along with his banjo and horn - both used in ways that Americana bands typically never will. Weird, horrifyingly beautiful and always interesting, the music of Fight Spider With Spider will never win them fame among people with more conventional tastes but few good bands will."

You guys were great in that weird hot basement that I didn't have a wristband to stay in. Right, show blastomat monday, try and catch it if such things are pleasing to you.
