MR. Misquita-Rice - The drumming of physics, ghoulish cymbal work
Sounds Like
This little album is a fully dynamic, muscular gem filled with constantly impressive break beat drumming, funk infused bass lines, early 90s post punkery, all floating in a collage of samples and industrio-electronic pedal induced mayhem. Sounds pretty fresh right? In fact, these guys are just about the only band in my opinion that is properly picking up where This Heat left off with Deceit more then 25 years ago. MR. Rhythms are worked into songs that you never knew existed, some of the guitar work sounds more like a dentist's drill than anything...it sounds like victory, as the man once said.
LOBSTER QUADRILLE MAGAZINE
'Leafigs' dresses up as an opening-credits to some trashy straight to VHS movie that you probably don't want to know about. This really is excellent stuff, and I do recommend you look further into the world of Fig Leaves.
QUENTIN WOODROW via HEADHERITAGE.CO.UK
The tracks on the bands myspace site are dark and noisy droning psych freak-outs that wouldn't sound out of place on a David Cronenburg soundtrack. 'You Doorknocker Eyes' with it's heavy percussion and spine chilling synths is the sound of Hitchcock if he'd given up celluloid and devoted his life to music. THE DEVIL @ http://www.besttuna.blogspot.com/
Fig Leaves have just unleashed a new set of recordings through the fantastic new label, Lobster Quadrille Cassettes. 'On the Beach' is a 10 minute wander through the undergrowth, ants in your pants, bad cocktails, Hawaii sun dreams of a neat bikini line, terrible lyrics about riding on whales and locking claws with the crab. Imagine Cliff Richard in 'Summer Holiday', except Cliff and the gang have walked into a tropical horror movie and Hank Marvin's eyes start oozing green slime as he lurches for the jugular, feverish from the heat as obscenities fly amongst the Death's-Head Hawkmoths...Anyway, get it here and now...
Thanks for accepting my friend request. Here are your 2 free downloads as promissed. Be sure to check out me & Ice T's video for Chevy 64 while your there. Dont be a stranger. 1Luv...
