imagine an artist leaves his family and friends for ever behind. all that remains from him are memories and... his music... how should this music be to give his family and friends the chance to be as close to him as possible? how should this music be, so that they can recognize him in his music?
this is the kind of music that fiin records is looking for. fiin records wants music in which the artist shows him self uninhibited, open, with all his strengths and weaknesses and all his aspects. music through which one can look into the artist and read like in an open book. music which one hears and after it, throuh the insight in the artist, also found an insight into ones self and into all beings.
fiin records is looking for a specific substance and essence of the music and therefore It doesn't matter what "style" this music belongs to.
since fiin records is non profit and spanning over "styles" focusing on a specific quality of music it can be compared to a label like "organic" for food. this is a completely new, universal approach in categorizing music. instead of defining music over surfacial attributes we look at the inner values.
fiin records does not want and need to compete with any label or artist: every artist, label or distributer can apply for free to get the "fiin records" label for a song or even an album. it doesn't mean that It's better than other music it is just declared "a certain kind of music" and listeners looking for that kind of music can easier find it. But of course fiin records also does release own cds.
we believe that art should be free, and if it is possible our downloads are available for free on a donation basis. the donations are used to pay our website and, of course, to print real material cds so the music can also reach people not on the internet.
