As Deer, Martin Hirsch (*1978) explores the intersections of various forms of expression within electronic music, putting an emphasis on engaging and improvised live performances. Drawing material from a variety of sources, Deer‘s sound is characterised by fieldrecordings clashing with intricate rhythm-patterns and beautifully crafted melodies. The emotional breadth of the music is astounding, covering a wide range of emotions and mental images seldomly explored in electronic music. Martin leaves it to the listener to decide whether the product of this combination is House, Techno or something else altogether. In either case, it is unique and intriguing.
Martin has released on a variety of labels and netlabels, including Hydrogen Dukebox, Combination Records, Neo Ouija and Hippocamp. He lives and works in Weimar, Germany, from where he also runs the electronic music label Neo Ouija and works as freelance writer and multimedia artist.
