THE ONLY FILIPINO STUDENT ORGANIZATION IN THE CENTRAL COAST
The Filipino Union of Monterey Peninsula College was established in the summer of 2006. It started with a small group of Filipino students discussing the need for a Filipino organization for students in the Monterey County. They felt the need to start a Filipino student organization to bring unity within the Filipino student community, while also helping students learn about their culture and helping students with their studies. The Filipino Union helps to unify, optimize and develop a friendly atmosphere not for Filipinos alone, but for everybody interested in learning about the Philippine culture. This organization is willing to promote a feeling of fellowship amongst students with similar cultural and educational interests. Since the Filipino student population is increasing every semester, many students have the chance to benefit from this organization. The Filipino Union is willing to help their fellow students through programs such as tutoring, academic counseling, student employment, financial aid applications, positive peer networks, and community services. Through these activities, the Filipino Union will increase and stimulate the students' knowledge and interest in their curricular fields as well as provide a feeling of unity and loyalty to the college.
Here are some videos of events you can be involved in within this organization. like "Friendship Games" which is held every year on the last week of October.

Our goal with creating the Barong Jersey is to help spread the reach of our Pilipino culture, by creating something everyone can relate too and understand. I’ve always admired the beauty of our barongs, but not everyone can appreciate tradition. We need to update and reinvent our past to give them relevance in the present day era. Through the music Q-York creates our intent is to bridge the gap within our own people and build bridges to other cultures, the barong jersey serves the same purpose, bringing awareness to the world and reminding ourselves to the beauty of the Philippines.
