Clover. It completely changed how I watch movies. Her theories about 80's slasher movies in particular are incredible. Friends of Film Fatale should check it out. See also Rhonda Berenstein's Attack of the Leading Ladies: Gender and Sexuality in Classic Horror Film for a sort of prequel that builds on Clover's theories and applies them to 30's horror and spectatorship. | | Heroes | .. width= |

Film Fatale's Blurbs |
About me:
Film Fatale is a not-for-profit film festival that premiered in Denton, Texas on April 25th, 2005. The first selection of films comprised 4 hours of movies made exclusively by women. Maria Garcia headed the creation of Film Fatale with the help of wonderful people like the folks at Texas Filmmakers, Dollie Hodges, and Karina Lomelin. That collection of films was also screened in Fort Worth at 1919 Hemphill Community Space. In April 2006 the second collections of films premiered at Metrognome Collective in Fort Worth. It was followed by the girl bads White Girl and Lovie.
Maria has moved to Minneapolis where she hopes to continue finding films and screening them there as a new chapter of Film Fatale. The Denton chapter is currently being managed by Landon Odle. Film Fatale will continue to showcase films by women, and provide a outlet for the often overloked and underpromoted female point of view in film. All profits will continue to go towards female centered charities like Family Health Care Clinic in Denton, a clinic staffed with doctors and nurses devoted to providing low income pregnant women with quality prenatal care.
