About me:
Austin Movie Show News
Channel 16 @ 10pm
Please note that earlier in the week we didn't have our Viewer signup process fixed where existing Viewers could vote. You can now vote with your password. If you DON'T have a password, check your email because we sent out a link for you to that earlier today. (Make sure your spam filters allow our email to come through.)
We love film festivals...we love film festivals alot. However, this time we wondered what would happen if you threw a film festival into a blender with guns, knives, bombs, poison, javelins, swords, and a pinch of cinnamon for good measure...
Where do I see the films?
The competing films for Flim Tournament are first shown on our live show that starts on Sunday nights at 10pm. The films are broken up throughout the program. On our show, Jegar and Leila will discuss the films as they're shown, and we also invite guest judges each week to voice their opinion. At the close of the show, you can vote here online.
On Monday nights, Austin Music Show does a promotion at Freddie's Place restaurant on South 1st. We set up our movie screen and projector and display the short films (along with the discussion segments from Sunday's show) for the audience. After we show the films, we pass around ballots for voting.
If you missed any of the films, you can come back here and see them online (if the filmmakers have posted them online), or you can just grab the entire Austin Movie Show podcast and watch them in the context of the show.
This Week's Films Available Online:
How do I vote online?
To vote on the film, you have to sign up as a viewer. Since we're not on a regular network (yet), we can't do ratings, so the Viewer List lets us know how many people are watching. Plus, if you Opt-In, we'll send you an email on Saturdays that lists our upcoming content for Sunday's show. Don't worry, we won't spam you or give out our mailing list. It's just for us.
If you're already signed up as a Viewer, then you can log in above and vote for that week's films. Pretty easy, huh?
So How does this film festival work?
We got short films competing one on one (under ten minutes) in FOUR seperate categories:
Animation
Narration
Musically Themed
Documentary
There will be 16 films, 4 per category that will compete until there is a final film from each round. Then the FINAL FOUR will duke it out to see who is best in show!!!
Deciding Factors:
Audience: 80%
Guest Judges: 10%
AMS Hosts: 10%
Starting June 4th, the Film Tournament 3.0 will hit television and podcasting to allow the games to begin. Every Sunday night four new films will enter the stage, followed by Monday NIGHT out at Freddie's Place to watch the films out on a big screen like films were meant to be seen.
If you would like to submit a short film: email info@austinmovieshow.com for more details on where to send your submission.
