A mountaintop laboratory on a stormy night. A mad scientist of rhythm completes his last experiment. Six creatures emerge from the darkness, clutching twisted instruments, to speak of bass. They are Filthy Kicks.
Now they roam from club to club, rupturing speakers and splintering dancefloors. Their weapons are synthesizers, turntables, drums and violins. Their battlecries are soaring vocals and blistering rap. If you face them, come prepared to dance...
The band have just released their debut album "Dirty Little Secret", mixing brand new beats with traditional melodies from all over the world. Their live show is a compound of dancefloor sounds, with drum-n-bass, hip hop, grimey dancehall and electronic breakbeat. Their songs reflect myriad influences from Roni Size Reprazent to Radiohead, from Naftule Brandwein to Nas.
Filthy Kicks have spent their first year tearing up the capital wth shows at the Proud Gallery, The Rhythm Factory, the Vibe Bar and the Dogstar. The live sound of Filthy Kicks is led by the raucous, muscular backing of Beat's Boy's live drums and layers of dirty synths courtesy of Dr Turze and Mr Heap, kicked and throttled by scalpel-sharp rap from Ibrahim Sha'ath, and sweetened by Violeta Barrena's virtuoso violin and the enchanting vocals of Jana Skene.
