The F in BLUES was the brain child of Steve D Parker. Formed in 1988, the line-up began as a three piece, but Steve always wanted to explore different sounds and the line-up began to grow and grow, and the sound of the band got bigger and bigger.

The original three piece line up began with Steve on fretless bass and vocals, Mick Carew on lead guitar, and Mr T on drums and percussions.

Later Steve brought in former Jobe St Day front man Phil Cockerham on saxophone and piano, also adding the F in Horns ( brass section ) and the F in Groupies ( backing vocals ).

Steve was in the process of adding two girl keyboardists when EMI became interested in Steve’s back catalogue. It was Out On The Hi’way that had caught EMI’s attention, but Steve was reluctant to sign a single deal with them and weeks later EMI signed Terrorvision from Bradford and shut the door on the F in BLUES, causing the band to split.

Steve wrote all the songs, although as a three piece they had covered and recorded some old Dylan and Hendrix material. Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door, All Along The Watchtower, Hey Joe, were amongst some of their favourites.

Steve’s influences come from T.Rex, Motorhead, Springsteen, Joan Armatrading, J.J.Cale, Hendrix, Canned Heat, Dr Feelgoods, and The Who.

Mick’s influences are Clapton, Hendrix and The Doors. He is so strong on Hendrix that he also played a creamy white Fender Strat inverted. Tony was into Genesis. Steve is presently in the process of forming a new three piece band, at the moment they are jamming under the name of Redneck Gypsy Angel, but the line-up could also include a female singer.

Mick ( Gypsy ) Rix acoustic guitar and vocals John ( Angel ) Stevens harmonica, percussions and vocals Steve ( Redneck ) Parker bass guitar and vocals

Although the band may cover some of the old F in BLUES songs, such as - Out On The Hiway, Mister Clean, Countin’ The Stars, and Sleep Tonight. They will also be playing some of the great classics like L A Woman by the Doors, and a fantastic Redneck version of Springsteen’s Open All Night.

So stay tuned and if you want more info then go to www.sdptv.co.uk and download the F in BLUES EMI demo album for free, just like my old guitar, NO STRINGS ATTACHED.
