Belton police are trying to identify the individual
below who reportedly was seen with Kara Kopetsky.
Police think she might have been spotted last week
at a store and fast-food restaurant in Louisburg, KS.
Police showed a photo of Kopetsky to three employees,
and they agreed that she was the person they saw.
Police have released this composite sketch of a
teenage male they think was with her and are asking
anyone with information to call the Belton Police Department at 816-331-1500 or
the Tips Hotline at 816-474-TIPS

KARA'S STORY
"Kara disappeared from Belton, MO on May 4, 2007. She was
last seen leaving Belton High School. Kara does not have
a car, so she would have either been on foot or someone
was there to pick her up.
Kara is 17 years old and would have just finished her
junior year in high school. She is 5' 5", with brown
hair and hazel eyes. As you can tell from the pictures,
she is known to change her hair color. She no longer has
braces as seen in some of the pictures.

The morning started out just like any other morning.
Kara decided to walk to school just a few blocks away
instead of having her mom drive her. Later that morning,
she called her mom to bring her a book for one of her
classes that she had fogotten at home. Kara also asked
her mom to wash her work clothes since she had to work
that afternoon after school. Mom took the book up to
school and left it in the office for Kara to pick up
later. At some point after that Kara got the book from
the office.
What happened next remains a mystery.
Kara did not come home from school that day and did not
show up for work that afternoon. Her mom and stepdad
called her repeatedly and called around looking for her
before reporting her missing that evening.
It has been confirmed that the last phone call on her
cell phone was about 10:30 that morning. Since then, the
police have determined that either the cell phone has
been shut off or the battery has run down. In addition
to that, there has been no activity on her bank account
and nothing is missing from her house. All of her
clothes, belongings, and IPOD are still in her room.
The police and family have talked to her friends and no
one has seen or had contact with Kara since she
disappeared.

Three persons reported seeing Kara at a gas
station/Burger King in Louisburg, KS along with a young
male. Unfortuately the video survelllance equipment was
not in working order and this sighting could not be
confirmed.

The police department has followed up on leads as they
have come in, but none have led them to find Kara

Lighten the Load Jesus sends an invitation to all: "Come to Me all who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest… For My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light." Who among us is without burdens? From a delayed flight to a late mortgage payment, a term paper due on Friday or a seriously ill family member, all of us have times when we are disheartened and discouraged along our way, sometimes to the point of “spiritually bankruptcy.”
I know a unique word not found in the dictionary, "efforting." It means struggling unnecessarily in an effort to do something. It could be illustrated by pushing a car to your destination when it would be much easier to start the engine and drive it. When I find myself "efforting," I think of Jesus’ invitation to let Him take the heavy part of the yoke, leaving me the lighter side. He does not necessarily say that He will carry all of my baggage. Yet, He does promise that when we accept His invitation, He will gladly lighten our load.
I am sending my thoughts and prayers.Still praying for Karas safe return home soon.Home is where she belongs.I still pray for you all to be strong.I know this has been a difficult time everyday you awaiting her arrival to come home.Take care and know our hearts go out to your family.
I am truly blessed with the gift of your friendship. I'm very sorry that I haven't been in touch like I should have lately. With all that has been going on with Winston I have not gotten too many chances to be online. The weeks have really gone by fast. I praise God so much that Winston is improving and is almost back to 100%. Now we’re going through an uncertain future with JJ as he remains in ICU at the animal hospital. Hopefully everything will be fine and back to normal soon. Thank you for understanding and continuing to be my friend.
We have started Forums for families (and 1 solely for siblings) of missing loved ones. They are password protected for the families privacy. If you are the sibling or family member of a missing loved one please send me a message and after verifying I will give you the information to join. This was requested by the sister of a missing girl. So I have set it up and I will monitor it. We did this so that families can talk to others who understand. If you are interested let me know.
