There is something special to be said about a two-piece rock n' roll band. Although the idea of a rock duo isn't new in music, to a mainstream audience, its concept still remains relatively unique. It takes equal portions of creativity, desire, and even guts, to pull it off successfully. Only when you combine these elements with contagious song structure and melody do you have something memorable.

The story of Fine Motor Control (FMC) began in 2004. Tristan Campbell was actively playing the Toronto music scene with Kidnapped Heiress (NxNE 2005) and touring Canada and the US with Houston based, noise-rock band, The Ronin King.

With many of his own songs and ideas needing an outlet to be explored, he combined his efforts with the solid-chops of Rob Kisler, drummer of the Toronto industrial-rock band, Organical. Together they began writing and playing the music that would soon capture the attention of many in the local independent music scene, and introduced themselves as the next band to look out for.

The old Poor Alex Theatre hosted many of their earlier performances, and the band seemed to have a certain energy and appeal right from the start. As his effect-driven bass screams out of each amp, Campbell stomps across the stage and captivates the crowd with his playing. Kisler pounds away on the drums with such a primal intensity that the audience can't keep themselves from getting pulled in with the energy. Fine Motor Control is not a band. It's a surreal experience.

"Solid, sludgy riffage was the order of the night, and it went over well with the head-nodding audience" - CMW 2006 Review - Chart Attack (Canada)

At a time when music seems littered with watered-down indie-bands, and pop-punk acts - Fine Motor Control offers those with a real need to rock out, a reason to like music again. Their debut EP "Cages" was released in November 2005, and has found homes throughout many college radio, and internet stations.

..."it showcases a well-executed bass/drum combo with a side of heavy yet bouncy riffs to boot...this album should satisfy those who like the sounds of under-produced rock with a Glock." - Now Magazine (Toronto)

The heartfelt intensity of Campbell's vocals layered upon their accessable brand of "noise-rock" makes FMC's style hard to define. Offering a refreshing combination of hard-rock and pop that appeals to a variety of listeners and genres, it promises to make a fan out of almost anyone. Unlike other bass-drum duos, FMC collaborates a variety of sounds and ideas to encompass their aggressive, yet calculated sound - pushing the boundaries of today's musical confines with their minimalistic, yet powerful approach.

Riding on the success of the "Cages" EP, the band has now begun working on new material for their first full-length effort, and is preparing for a cross-Canada tour over the next year. Be sure to catch them in your town.

A long time ago a man with big feet stepped on a rat and he felt kind of bad, cause he could not eat the rat, cause it was dirty and smelly like his foot which had also stepped in poo that day, and you can be sick by eating poo. So god a rabid dyslexic dog heard the mans wows and turned the rat into a penis... then all men had penises... and so Valentines day was born... come learn the true meaning of this day as King Clancy sings the word and great works of the great and wonderus dog... (or god if your dyslexic) hear the lament and look in awe as the king delivers furious thunder to your rats... learn the true meaning of Valentines day in your pants...KING CLANCY PLAYS THE HORSESHOE 9 30 pm SATURDAY FEB 14...
